£100ish for a bottle - but is one of the best I've tasted.

Quite fancy it otherwise

I spent the entire time at the big peat table last time and could barely walk out the place. For anyone that likes a peaty whisky and is open to blends this is just a fantastic whisky. https://www.douglaslaing.com/brand-stori...s/big-peat They give you a glass on the way in the door and that's all you'll spend unless you want to buy a pie or a bottle.

Two tickets for £35 is decent as well.

That looks good actually. Not sure I could trust myself not to get buckled and do something absolutely ridiculous though

Talisker Storm, Bowmore 12yo, Auchentoshan in that order for me. Recommend all three highly.
I absolutely adore whisky.

It's not exactly night out material, that being rum on the rocks with a twist of lime or a vodka and soda, but when the time is right, it's an incredible drink. Definitely something you can appreciate more as your tastebuds develop as well. Like most on here I imagine, my dad is also a big whisky fan, usually a malt, or a very nice blend, but he's no snob insisting on 25 year old this or that. By very nice blend, he has some blue label, which is superb, and I gave him a bottle of dalmore king alexander III (a gift from a client which I would have loved to keep, but he would appreciate more than me) which is also incredible. Get the relatives round, start them off on a drop of the nice stuff and switch the bottles after a couple, they never know. I have a mate who has given me two ridiculous bottles I might never open. £250-£350 they would be worth currently I think. Torn because they will be a special drop, but also the moment hasn't been right to open them. (12-09-2015, 10:49 PM)Pete Seeger Wrote: Has anyone been to the pot still in Glasgow? I go quite a lot, top pub, and unreal whisky selection. One of those places I will always take visitors/guests who come to stay, or a friend of a friend passing through etc. They always love it as well. Malt of the month is usually a sound bet, quite often been benromach when I've been in, which is a well underrated drop.

Thoughts on Glenfiddich? Bought a bottle of 12 y/o on a whim at Costco the other day because they had it for £23.
Had it once or twice before; was beyond pished once and don't remember it being that good but for that price I thought it was worth getting. Think it usually retails about £35. |
