Can anyone think of an ex Hibs player who is now on the radio, late twenties/early thirties?

Nah, until Wenger retires Arsenal shouldn't look elsewhere.

I honestly think he'd be happy to hand the club over to Pep. All Wenger's work over the last decade has been designed to leave a golden legacy to the right person. He's shovelled through all sorts of shit; hardly any manager anywhere would've been prepared to do what he's done. But if they don't go in for Guardiola, who on Earth do they replace Wenger with? Pep's one of a kind.

Wenger is some man tbh, kind of love the guy, it will be a sad day when he retires, him and Fergie, the end of an era.
Anyway, I agree Guardiola would be an amazing capture for Arsenal but i can't see it happening i the next couple of years, think pep will go to City, win the league a couple of times then maybe move on to Arsenal.

He'll be there 3 of 4 years then fuck off. I don't see him being a fit for arsenal the same way I don't see jose being a fit for man u. Both clubs want longevity and neither manager provides that.

He's doing exactly what Mourinho does although the difference is Mourinho done it at a smaller club to start with. Pep gets dropped into a side with about 4 of the best players on the planet. They only want that because that's what they're used to, the games moved on (for the worse), there won't be managers like Ferguson and Wenger around anymore, that's just the way of it and their fans will need to get used to it.

I'm not sure the days of the longevity in a manager at a club really exists these days. If a manager does 4 years, I reckon that counts as a long term plan these days.

Aye but man u brought in Moyes with clear intent. They wanted another Ferguson. They didn't get it and they've brought in LVG because they needed a temp fix and knew he'd stick around until retirement. Arsenal will do the same. They want a guy who'll be around for a while, not a conveyer belt of managers like City or Chelsea.

But that's usually an issue with impatience of the club, and not itchy feet of the manager. I think most clubs hope that their manager will stick around, but If you bring in someone like Pep you know it's short term. |
