I don't disagree with that for the majority of these boys but it goes completely against the alleged ethos of the club in that we play youngsters and give them a chance. Zanatta would be as well being sold now in all honesty if he's not pushing himself into the team after all this time.

I think McDonald, Cochrane and Keena should be kept and given games tbh, Levein's missing a trick not playing them and using that as an excuse for the results tbh.

Making it up as they go along.

The clowns at the club didn't think we had an issue.

There's very few of them I feel will ever be good enough. The only one I would have near the first team is Irving, I've never been impressed by Keena in any of his appearances for us either, always thought Cochrane was massively overrated and he looks to be as far away from the first team than he's ever been.

For all the chat of what is happening at the academy, the route to the first team is getting harder and harder under levein.

It might be a panic loan, but it's at least fixing what's easily the worst goalkeeping situation at Hearts that I can remember.

All we need is someone who can tackle in midfield and someone who can score goals.

Oh, and a new manager.

And owner.

His hand was probably forced after Saturday tbh. No escaping (even for Teflon Shoulders Levein) how monumentally bad Bobby is. I can see Zamal being cut before the end of the month.

Levein gets a lot of stick - rightly so - about his failure to sign a left back. However I think what's gone under the radar is the amount of keepers we've had in his time. In terms of established/recognised number ones we've had:

Alexander - two seasons as number one
Hamilton - one season
McLaughlin - one season
Zlamal - one season

Four different number ones in five seasons is not a good thing at all. A goal keeper is a specialised position and you really need someone who is a long term solution and is settled. It helps the defence out as well.

Assuming this new lad will be the new number one, that's five keepers in just over five years. Obviously not advocating Zlamal stays on but that's not good at all. You can't be changing keepers every season or so. Plus he's a loan signing so inevitably we'll be back in for our sixth number one next summer.

I'm happy this new guy is here as he will undoubtedly be better than the current incumbent but its just another example of the complete lack of any kind of long term or forward thinking strategy from anyone at the club.

Should never have let McLaughlin go - easily the best keeper we've had since Craig Gordon.

High Hopes for Pereira though...though I suspect if he has a continued run of good games and clean sheets, he'll be shipped back down to Old Trafford.

Ok, this guy is supposed to be very decent so we immediately improve and solve a problem that I’ve been pissing and moaning about since I saw the nick of Zlamal’s hair last pre-season and immediately named him pup of the season in our predictions thread.

That said, I’m honestly so fucking annoyed that that’s now loads of folk right back into happy clappy mode. WHAT A SIGNING, DEFENCE IS FIXED, THIS WAS ALWAYS THE PLAN BUT WE HAD TO WAIT TIL THE WINDOW CLOSED etc. Load of shite. Panic stations when it turned out having two dug shit goalkeepers was actually not a good idea - after two league games and half a cup campaign - when everyone’s been saying it for the last 9 months. Some job he’s got - you can say what you want, do what you want, fail all you want, get whatever results, scapegoat whomever you want and then you can sign as many players as you want to buy yourself time when the pressure starts up.

So far we’ve signed Halkett, White, Pereira, Damour, Washington, Walker, Naismith and it looks like Whelan, Meshino and a striker are on the way as well. This despite him saying repeatedly that he wouldn’t be doing much business this summer and that he was happy with his squad as is. He said he might sign one more player in an interview with the Daily Record just over a month ago. He’s on the verge of 5 signings since then now.

We know already how it'll be spun, keeping the cards close to the chest, masterstroke keeping agents and other teams guessing, etc. All a load of nonsense, he's thought we'd be fine with what we had and we've started off predictably shite and he's hitting the panic button.

When in doubt chuck more bodies at it. That's been the case for years without anyone at the club realising or acknowledging the real problem.
