Was it a back 3 today or a back 4?
No rep, no problem

A back four l, with a right back, left back, and two centre halves, all in their correct positions

Just reading through the thread. Uche was on the wing?

I don't mind that tbh, if you're going to ping it long don't just chunk it right down the middle to their centre backs, get the big man starting wide running on to it and putting the full back in to the ground.

Will watch a replay of the game later. I'm interested to see how big Uche lumbering about on the flank would pan out but I'll keep an open mind
I saw Mikey Stewart on Twitter say he didn't think it worked. (11-09-2019, 10:01 PM)Steven Toast Wrote: Will watch a replay of the game later. Uche won his headers, held it up when needed and turned his man when he got too tight. He can't much cross, but neither can morrison or mulraney, and his shooting when he cut inside was mostly powderpuff. It's not a long term solution for us or him, but it's another thing that can work given the right scenario.

Didn't Uche play wide against Cellic in the game we beat them last season? He crossed it for Lafferty's goal definitely and I can remember him out wide quite a bit.

Thought he was very effective. I have to disagree with Stewart on this one. I'd rather use Uche on the wing than Naismith.

Naismith was verbally lambasting Uche all game. His lack of game intelligence is frightening
Been very critical of Bozanic but thought he was good today. Still not sure Irving is the answer

Middle to front a few players stepped up, but our defence is a cause for real concern. Badly need to get Halkett & Souttar back in the centre of defence.
At best Berra needs a long rest, at worst, he's done.

Bozanic was pish, imo.
Irving gave away far too many stupid fouls, but was okay. Good distribution.

As much as I hate Bozanic, he wasn't as noticeably pish as he normally is.
Irving I like, a fair bit of naivety in his play but he's capable of picking out passes and making things happen. I think he could do pretty well alongside Whelan.

We won 5-2, I think it's safe to say Macphee got his selection and subs spot on

I think we should try and develop Irving, even if he's not quite there yet. He's got some useful tools in his armoury
