I think he will go. The Tories are going for the same "don't politicise this, there's a legitimate reason, they're really sorry" route the SNP tried to take with the daft Scottish CMO. The pressure got too much for them, and it'll eventually get too much for Cummings too.

He'll disappear / resign for a bit and be back in No.10 in a couple of months imo.

Actually seething about this a bit Monty Oh Well Warnock I hate that poisonous wee gremlin and what he's done to the UK (but enough about Begbie etc).

Folk being banned from being with their dying relatives but it’s alright for that cunt to drive 270 miles just incase he needs his parents to look after his kid.

All that then his wife writes some absolute nonsense in the spectator about him being at deaths door in London. Honestly the lies never cease with these cunts

Even if he does officially resign he'll still be advising Johnson behind the scenes Warnock

Wonder if we'll start seeing the Telegraph or the Times reporting that there's 'pressure on the government to end lockdown after reports that senior advisers hadn't been abiding by it' Monty Oh You

If he is eventually sacked where does that leave these very senior members who have all defended him to the hilt and said what he done was exactly right?

In the same place Michael Gove was after going on the record repeatedly about how unfit Boris Johnson was to be Prime Minister, shortly before he became Prime Minister.

This is a topper. She actively chose to lie - she wasn't being questioned, or in an uncomfortable position, she just decided to lie of her own volition. Sociopathic weirdos that are around power this country Wiggo

I was going to say probably harsh to tar all members of the party with the same brush as Johnson/Cummings etc but there’s not exactly a revolt at their actions is there?

We keep hearing about this section of tories who are raging at the leadership but clearly not raging enough.

Even for moderate Tories, who do exist, being in power is always more important than factional infighting. That's what separates them from Labour.

This episode will have at best a minimal impact on Johnson's popularity. Imo, anyone who thinks there'll be a 'gotcha' moment where voters realise this government are liars, hypocrites, or whatever else is mistaken - I don't think their voters are really unaware of that. People have internalised the idea that 'you can't trust politicians' to the point that it doesn't matter - they don't expect politicians to be truthful with them. What people support is a narrative, and the right have been much better at culture wars than the left. The same applies to Trump.

Aye something that has become very apparent to me especially under this gvt is the priority they put on framing the message and how they come across, rather than focusing on actually preventing the issues that get them such criticism in the first place.

There will be some things that they get criticism for that a lot of gvts around the world will have failed on too, but shit like this is just indefensible. The fact that Hancock has come out and said he has done exactly the right thing to me is worse than the actions that Cummings took. The health minister just publicly excusing his pals is a joke.

I’m going to be paying close attention to Starmer because I didn’t think he was the right guy originally and thought we were just getting a guy who looked the part. So far his display of leadership has been near on perfect. I still don’t know a lot about his politics but very impressed so far and I’m hoping this is the start of a very strong opposition again. I’m not going to dig Corbyn out but he was really ineffective in holding people responsible so it’s a breath of fresh air to have someone who is not so easily picked apart.

At least that’s how it comes across to me on the face of things.

Amazing to watch Shapps undermine the government's restrictions and guidance by basically just saying "it's up to the individual what you do" all to save Cummings' skin.

Exactly what I've just said to the wife - the Health woman frantically trying to claw it back and failing every time he opens his trap.

What an inept bunch of plebs.
