I sat and watched it like, so it provided me with entertainment Laugh I didn’t watch the first few - think I started on episode 3 or 4 because it was on when I arrived at my pal’s the other night and we just ended up leaving it on - but yeah, VISA and HILTON and RVCA plastered everywhere you look definitely undercut their attempt at a message Laugh

I’d forgotten about Visa actually - the first one in Iceland they’re in a wee chocolate factory then before they leave there’s a close-up shot of Efron’s visa as he taps it to pay Monty Oh You

Really enjoyed the Costa Rica one because I could watch hours of footage of Yanks who’ve lost the heid, moved to the jungle and given up shoes. Laugh I’ve been to the sloth and jaguar sanctuary they went to as well Quite Good

Did anyone watch the latest series of Killing Eve? Seen the first couple episodes and probably going to chuck it, seems to have gone to shit. Worth sticking with?

Not really worth it, no.

I'd fill you in on what happens, but the answer is not much happens. And it's not entertaining getting there.

I’ve watched more than you but similarly don’t have the urge to watch the rest whereas previously I blitzed straight through the lot

Someone recommended to me that I watch I May Destroy You, as it gives a good route into discussing something I'll be teaching next week (not trying to be mysterious here - can give more details if anyone's interested, but I assume no-one is Warnock ). Spent today watching the first 10 episodes and justifying it to myself as work Quite Good

Finished Last Chance U

Enjoyed it, felt like it went back to the feelings of the first couple of seasons and had people in it where at least for me you were actually willing them to succeed

About to finish the first season of Succession and it's really good. They're all bastards, but different kinds of bastards and everybody gets nasty snearing lines to deliver to loved ones. As I said earlier, I wasn't sure if it was just my twitter feed telling me it's great because they're pals with the creator, but it's genuinely great. Worth searching out a pirate bay proxy if you've not got sky.

Aye I’m getting into it as well. Still think the swearing is a bit invasive and that basically none of the characters having any redeeming qualities makes it a bit of a struggle at times (TalkHearts.txt), but it is very very, very good.

Watching that the now as well, 5 eps deep. Not really gotten the hype yet. Sure I'll get into it but atm I'm hearing the HBO crackle at the start of each ep and thinking, I could be watching sopranos

Having an utter lack of morals, a desire to humiliate and deligitimate your closest family and an acid tongue could be said to be redeeming qualities.

Anyway, that's the last time I say anything positive about Acey. The characters in Succession have no positive ethical traits certainly, but they're all engaging, variously charming, distinct and formed. The closest you get to a 'good' character in, say, Breaking Bad is Hank and he's obnoxious and boorish.

I guess it's a bit easy to make everyone a variation on Maggie Smith in Downton (there's an episode at the end of season one that is just Downton in the digital era) but ultimately it's a show about the Murdochs so it's not like 'they're all shits' is so far from reality.

Also, needs to be said there's several really strong performances. Kieran Culkin and Cox do a great job with roles that are easy to act up to, but McFadyen is really flexible performer. Funny, snivelling, weaselly, threatening and all in the same scene.
