Coming through for a week in September and looking for some recommendations of places to go. Any cuisine is good, kid friendly would be good.

Anyone been to that brew lab place on south college street next to the captain's bar? Was there today, proper hipster coffee shop, but the coffee, cakes and sandwiches were immense. Top marks.
Chorizo, plum tomatoes and pecorino.

Brew Lab coffee is superb. Just to work in the Old College so it was my local shop for a while.

Ye a big Brew Lab fan, not a massive fan of Coffee but their tea range is top drawer. Â Not tried any food there though.

I've been twice and have to say i'm not a fan, last time I got veg and noodles and thought it was overly greasy and bland, given its proximity to kebab mahal I know where i'd be going up that end of town.

Not a big fan off chinese food but Chop Chop at haymarket seems to get decent write ups Yocoko on south bridge as well... http://www.yocoko.com/ if your into Itallian then ill Castello on castle terrace or its sister restaurant ill Positano on newington road are decent family restaurants. Tuk Tuk on the corner of Leven Street does indian street food, it can be hit or a miss but when they get it right its fantastic, its menu is similar to Mother Indias but probably not as consistently good. I keep going to Civerinos at the top of blair street even though i'm not convinced its amazing but they get the pizza right every time

Karen's Unicorn at Abercromby Place is a decent Chinese. The duck is particularly good.

And a stone throw from Mosque Kitchen too... In fact, Sterling, Mosque Kitchen is kid friendly and they do lovely curry. It's fairly basic stuff but you get good portions and I've never left unsatisfied

Sacrilege, but I'm not a fan of the Mosque kitchen. Think it is really mediocre tbh, and plastic plates ffs

Go to the actual mosque tho it's a lot better i found. It's good for lunch and that, you're about a fiver for a decent curry and a bit of bread (understand you don't eat bread plz don't lecture us about your diet) You'd never go for a meal or that... or make an effort to go out your way to go there but it's harsh calling it mediocre |
