Wildfire was top notch. Didn't expect it to be such a small place, but it added to the charm. Lovely food, friendly service. Recommend it

Had a meal at the buffalo grill over the festival. Was right next to where we were meeting friends, BYOB etc so thought it would be alright to pop in. It was absolutely terrible.
Mrs S asked for a few dishes without something in (she's not picky but peppers don't really agree with her) and got "sorry we can't take that out, they are pre prepared." Brutal charging upwards of a tenner for something blatantly out of the freezer. My chicken was blatantly in the equivalent of a sweet chilli sauce out of the supermarket. Anyway, just putting that out there in case anyone was tempted to go. Don't. The manager was a total bell, to make things worse.

Which branch was that? I've heard there is a massive difference between the Stockbridge and Bristo ones.

I thought they were both shut for a refurb.

Might have been just trying to reap it over the festival, but if so, treating customers like mugs is never a good idea. Seemed to be aiming for the large group of folk on a night out market.

Only ever been to the Stockbridge one and enjoyed it. I'm under no illusions that some of the starters etc are most likely brought in, but the steaks have been pretty good there when I've been and had no problems with the service at all.

Seems like quite a tired set up when so many places are doing top notch food, they seem to have gotten lazy, on the back of their longevity I'd imagine.
A change of manager and sharpen things up and no reason it should be bad as they have always seemed busy.

That's probably a likely story - I've admittedly not been in ages and ages.
