Not quite! For the first 5 mins I felt like I was on a train, sitting backwards. It's basically a poor WW1 man's Saving Private Ryan. It's alright but if you asked me to dinner and a movie I'd go home after the steak.
Thought it was excellent. I think with historical films the key is authenticity rather than accuracy and the film managed to capture that sense of scale and the confusion of the war.
Saw 1917 tonight too. Excellent, couldn't really fault it. Beautifully shot and thought the tone was great - great tension/dread the whole way through which could easily have segued into an OTT ending but they avoided it well.
Only issue was that they've obviously needed about 50 different British actors to make it work so you're immersed in the film then suddenly a new character appears and you're more focused on going 'wait was that Ben Swain??' than paying attention to the actual plot
Uncut Gems - 7/10 This whole film is like having a mild panic attack Adam Sandler is really good in it playing a dramatic role. His bit on the side in this movie (Julia Fox)
Marriage Story - 8/10 Really well acted by Driver and Johansson Film put me off ever getting married
Can't believe I hadn't gotten round to seeing this until now absolutely hilarious film. Jason Isaacs and Paul Whitehouse especially had so many good moments
