My thinking is it'll be seen as a failure because of things like this. It'll be written of as impossible to work in football, but that's nonsense. It works well elsewhere; but it needs to be taken up by the majority of leagues for it to have a chance.

Salary caps would be good at the top level of football to restore some parity. Probably be difficult to implement, especially with how corrupt UEFA/FIFA are.

NFL use salary caps do they not? They still manage to give out absolutely mental deals though
They can only give silly money to a set amount of players though because of the cap, so the talent is spread around the teams.
It's a lot easier to implement over there because of how centralised the leagues are and the relative lack of teams.

Team that finishes bottom of the championship is going to be fucked

You can't reasonably ask a relegated team to bin half their staff to fit an arbitrary wage cap, but putting any sort of time cushion on it, say a 33% reduction for three years, will mean teams would just take their chances and in most cases romp the diddy league in their first season back down.

At first I thought "that's a massive gamble when they're going for a ten in a row". But then I realised the nearest team is on five, so doubt it's any big deal over there.

Valencia selling their captain and one of the best players in the league outside Barca and Real to Villarreal for 6 million Euros

I see Celtic have been drawn at home in the first two rounds of the Champions Lg which are one legged ties. All the breaks.

Think it was because him and some of the other players threatened to go on strike when the old manager got sacked. The boy that owns them is some eccentric billionaire from Singapore. Think he owns half of Salford City as well, hence why Gary Neville was given the manager's job
Bit mental that he's going for that price and Newcastle were wanting 50 million pounds for one of those weird ginger cunts. |
