Walt, you do realise that you forgot to put your shades on for the first photo. Schoolboy error.

Black tie event ( ) next Saturday. Kilt outfit acceptable? If so, do I need to buy a black bow tie to go with it?

Duty calls, Tel. Was meant to be seeing Cleopatrick at the Garage that night, but it's a relatively small event that I've been invited to and can't miss for various career-related reasons.
Get yourself a kilt outfit for your next wedding.

One of the strongest views I hold is abolish black tie. Just wear a kilt however you would normally wear one (NB not with a Stew Mel rugby shirt) and that will qualify you. The bigger question you should be asking is do you really want to be aligning yourself to the type of event that demands black tie in 2022.

If not wanting to wear a bow tie, I would go with a slim black tie, maybe a knitted one. Will it be with a prince charlie jacket?
I've got an argyll jacket in green tweed but not sure I'd wear it to a full on black tie event as its a day jacket really, but depends on the level of formality i suppose. I got a slim tuxedo (which I actually really like), a few years ago for a particular event and it's hung in the wardrobe ever since.

If it is black or grey then yeah just wear a black tie IMO.

If it's a super formal black tie event then the Prince Charlie actually looks smarter, imo.
The problem is at weddings etc...it looks a bit overdressed. |
