Glenfiddich is okay: very drinkable, maybe a bit lacking in character. Sort of miscellaneous Speyside. People who consider themselves 'real whisky drinkers' like to sneer at it to , but imo it's perfectly pleasant.

Sounds good to me. I'll open it after I've finished my Old Pultney and if it's average it will be the malt that gets offered to people I like to much to fob off with a blend.

Mentioned it on the JKB thread a while ago but if anyone is looking for a good blend try to get a bottle of Baillie Nicol Jarvie. Great wee blend that Glenmorangie have discontinued. Well with getting one while you can if you can find one at a decent price.

Very decent. Quite citrusy.

That's as much as I can say on it. Very limited in terms of whisky tasting.

I got a bit into the tasting side when I worked in a whisky shop but always feel like a bellend describing stuff. Warnock

Been thinking of buying a Japanese whisky when I've finished one of the bottles I have just now. Always a bit iffy about buying before trying, though.

Wouldn't be anymore concerned about buying before trying Japanese whisky than you would Scottish. I've only ever heard pretty good things about Japanese stuff.

Obviously if you're very particular about trying any whisky before you try then fair enough.

I'm the opposite, quite happy to blind buy. Not talking about spunking a shitload of money mind.

Just to clarify, I didn't mean I was more worried about it with Japanese than Scottish whisky; more whisky in general. Given the price, it's nice to know you're going to like it before buying a full bottle. In this case if I want to try it I probably will just have to take the plunge, though, as I don't really have a great selection of whisky shops here.

I usually just try and have a nip of something different when I'm out on the bevvy. Sometimes hard to make an educated decision on the peatiness after you've had about 10 pints though.

I do the same actually, but on the rare occasions when I've actually been out for a drink here the places I've been have had poor selections of whisky at best. Also, pozzy for signature. Zlat

Drinking a Tomatin 12 just now. Got it for Christmas, having always liked the Tomatin stuff we sold in the whisky shop. Very nice.

Welcome, WH.

A friend bought this for me recently - a liqeur. Not my thing at all and haven't tasted it yet but seems to get decent reviews.

Also to note. Tesco's are doing Talisker Storm for £30 a bottle right now.

I've visited the distillery on Skye. A fantastic whisky.

We used to do regular tastings of it at the whisky shop I worked at. Wasn't that big a fan of it myself: too sweet. The same company do a cream liqueur called Columba Cream which is incredible, though: like Bailey's but without the weird chemical aftertaste.
