We were offering Carrasso 4000 euros a week when he was on 38k at Bordeaux Wenger also wanted him.

I don't imagine we need to really worry about 7000 Aberdeen fans in an over half empty Murrayfield making us feel like we're playing Besiktas away. (09-08-2017, 09:38 AM)Currahee! Are we genuinely sending everyone's tickets to their previous addresses?

When we approached him he was earning 0 euros per week. Generous offer IMO

Worth a go tbh - most guys will go after the money late in their career, but a few might feel they're already financially comfortable and want first team football. Not sure an old goalie is worth that much out of our wage budget, though.

Seems we have been a bit over-ambitious in a few areas this summer, with McClaren being unaffordable as well etc, but it pays off sometimes with the likes of Berra and Lafferty, so encouraged by the willingness to speak to people of that calibre and ask the question.

Was thinking that as I was writing it - I'm on the fence to an extent. A good goalie is definitely worth a high wage, but I feel like it's a gamble with an older one as they can often seem to lose it overnight - more so than other positions. Then again some carry on longer than players in other positions, so who knows

Billy Davies on Billy Davies, and why he's not the manager of Hearts.

"You'd think, over all this time, somebody like me should have had my hand bitten off — by Rangers, by all these English Championship clubs — because I am a very good football manager. Just look at my record. So let's not be kidded here, it has been a smear campaign.

"We had a great chat. But they did not want to remove Austin MacPhee, or put Jon Daly back down to where he should go."
He added: "I will not jump back in to a St Mirren, a Dundee United, a Hearts, with all due respect to these clubs. I know I am a very good football manager. I will not jump back into football and take a job that is beneath me.

Hearts job is beneath him but he gave a wonderful presentation for the job I thought the Billy Davies stuff was a bit of a meme but fucccccking hell man

I'd have taken Davies and his ideas, he's obviously a good manager.
