Mrs S did a stint at the Hague (10 years for war crimes have you tasted her cooking amirite), and most of the dutch had two bikes (at least). One for the day to day, to lock up anywhere with the standard crappy wee chain, then a nice sunday bike. Bought her a lovely dutch bike from a second hand bike shop in her neighbourhood.
Sounds great. An extra bike is super useful for when people come to visit too. Hate having to walk places when others don't have a bike (although bike rental isn't too bad)
Would like a dece bike, but still buying other essentials.

The place we bought hers from was hilarious. Proper aladdins cave of basically hundreds of dutchies, the odd road bike, and a few assorted others. He also did hire for peanuts. I ended up with one which had a kids seat on front and back for my hire for the week.
You got a proper dutch style one? Great fun for throwing about the place and you wont mind getting it scratched etc. (10-23-2018, 11:00 AM)Walter Sobchak Wrote: The place we bought hers from was hilarious. No gears though.

Love the way that outside a supermarket/train station there are rows, and rows and rows and rows, of bikes and I've witnessed first-hand that people coming out just take the nearest 'standard issue' dutch bike rather than dig in deep to get their own so they do change hands frequently.

Not a good day to be out playing football ball just flying across the six yard box whenever I was trying to take a goal kick.
