I think when this is all said and done the push for NHS privatisation, Thatcherite individualism and the negativity towards the welfare state will all seem ridiculous.

It will take a rebuild not seen since the war and that can only be done through a labour government.

That's true but they have abandoned their ideology and basically went against everything they stand for in our time of need. If Labour can't get that across to the electorate the next time they are trying to sell off the NHS or persecute the vulnerable then we are truly fucked. We've had an incredible run of luck in terms of living a comfortable life, I really believe this will be a huge wake up call for a lot of people. You need a safety net and a strong NHS.

Nice thought, but in reality we'll get austerity 2.0 because 'all the money was spent during the pandemic and now we need to tighten our belts' and idiots will accept it because it sounds like it makes sense. Bookmark it.

Or if HMRC employ an accounting method for professions like law/accountancy which takes all work you have done that year (and not even raised a bill for) and then they count that towards your profit figures for the year. That also fucks you.

Saw an example of a builder who showed a £60k profit, but whose wife is ill with cancer. They wont get anything and will still have to put food on the table.

It's unfair that it is sort of means tested, with an upper limit on wages last year, whereas the other support packages are not means tested, other than with a cap on payment. So you can have earned £55k as an employee and can access support, but if you show that as profit while self employed, you can't.
