From what I'm told, they don't actually know how to properly fix it yet
This month long closure is so they can put a short term fix in place, getting it back open while they work out how to fix the issue properly/the new bridge opens. Another issue is that to fix it, they need to relieve the weight on the areas (almost like jacking up a car) but again aren't sure how to.
All in all its a bit of a mess, yet Amey seem to be coming out of it best.
