The league cup/europe starts early as fuck for us. You only have about a month and a half. We had a January break and numerous international weeks around that to do what you can do in a pre season. Nothing is going to be magically different this time around I'm afraid.
The League Cup is no big deal. Just extra pre-season games (or else it should be - Hearts players should have enough quality to beat second and third division sides without too much time together).
Pre-season at least gives the team and management time to bond. Half these January signings were never going to buy into any team spirit here because they were never going to stay. If we get players in on longer term contracts and get them invested in each other. Buy smart (i.e. don't buy wasters like Djoum that instantly says he sees us as a stepping stone) then we are on the way to making a solid squad.
Players like Tziolis, Sowah, Avlonitis, Djoum aren't going to buy into being at the club as they see it as a short-term thing.
Need to buy new players who want to be at Hearts, and get them in early to bond together and get some team feeling going. Get rid of the time wasters.
