Aye he was shite, as I've said, but it wasn't an easy job for him to come into, despite what Scott's trying to claim. Cathro should take flak for taking the gig if he thought it was above him, but I guess he thought the time was right for him.
Scott's right that we were nowhere near 2nd in real terms when he took over. He got a squad of players who barely knew each other from the transfer debacle of the summer, lost Funk and Souttar to injury and Djoum to the AFCON and got Walker and Nicholson when their heads were gone.
He then brought in a whole load of new faces from abroad, which I think the club played a big part in and then when things didn't click had Walker being a wee cunt and spouting off to the press about his teammates while at the same time selling the jerseys in half the games he played.
He was shite. He was an awful appointment. But let's not pretend it was an easy gig for him. Easier than Allardyce taking over at Everton? Shut up Scott FFS.

It was a hard gig for him in the same way managing Hearts would be a hard gig for me. i.e. I'd be an imposter, just like Cathro.
