Imagine there is a lot of truth to this but even if 4 or 5 people in a day take it too far and wipe a shelf it’s going to cause problems for others too. Think it’s somewhere in the middle between what he’s saying and everyone is hoarding as if they’re about to wake up to a nuclear wasteland tomorrow.
Was reading that apparently this situation could’ve been a lot worse as the shops had already put some contingencies in for a no deal brexit, so they had increased the stock available slightly already.
There are retail experts in the comments debunking this as simplistic pish btw. It’s an easy answer and makes a lot of people feel better about their behaviour, but it’s not actually true.
