Fuck an entire season in the ass, when clubs will be emerging from this mess desperate for revenue, in order to complete 20% of a season that’s already history? Sounds disastrous to me. I don’t know the legal scenarios around voiding the season etc, but it is insane to me that a contract could require full reimbursement of TV money after 30 games when they have already hoovered up the ad revenue etc.
If they’re worried about European places, you could hold a playoff tournament when football is ready to return with all the teams who were still in with a shot. Who knows, but surely there are ways around it that don’t involve cancelling an entire season and screwing clubs out of a year of revenue to satisfy some perverse desire to finish a season that they can’t possibly finish.
Scott’s right. No one should give a fuck about football right now and most people don’t, not even Klopp the Fraud. The only people I’ve even seen talking about it like it matters in the real world are Celtic fans who are shiting it that their precious 9 is fucked. Sums it up
‘Fucking an entire season in the ass’ is what you’re doing either way; you just have to choose which one you’d rather fuck.
Personally I’d prefer we voided the current season obviously, but I’m saying from a purely logical standpoint it doesn’t make sense. You’re advocating scrapping something that is almost complete to give you the best chance (but no guarantee) of completing something that hasn’t started yet.
Next season is going to be a shambles regardless so can see why FIFA/UEFA want to complete this one regardless of when it happens.
Your last paragraph is straight off a middle aged woman’s Facebook I’m afraid. Football is less important than people dying of coronavirus, well done. This is a thread on a football forum about the repercussions of the pandemic on football so funnily enough people are going to discuss it.
