Let me know if you want his number, he's helped out quite a few of my mates and a very decent guy.

Cheers mate. I have a cheap runaround and fixing it would be £400-£500 of which I doubt the car is worth that now.

If this guy could do it cheaper then I'd consider getting it fixed. Can you PM me the deets? Thanks mate. Genuinely only use the car to get to work and gym so I just need it kept roadworthy, nothing more.

Just went to test drive an S4 avant. Turns out the garage sold it (cash buyer who turned up and didn’t ask for a drive, discount or haggle at all, didn’t realise VS was after a new car so soon) and they had no S4s in the showroom, so I went out in an S5 instead. Pinilla

Bit weird as you don’t want to rinse it with them sitting next to you, but it was pinilla. Easy to drive around in a nice smooth normal pace but as soon as you put your foot down it absolutely rips. jjay

So tempting.

The Avant looks brilliant. The saloon looks shit though.

Why has the Audi A3 suddenly turned into a saloon that just looks like a squashed A4?

Seeing more and more of them about town - they look awful Wiggo

There’s a smallish Mercedes that looks fucking terrible too. Think it’s the CLA but I might be wrong.

It’s the same as you say with the A3. Rather than properly designing a smaller model it’s like they’ve just tried to squash one of their bigger cars.

Car related disaster and help required.

The Mrs car won't start and I suspect it's the battery (she hasn't been using it for ages as we have used my car instead and didn't turn it over during the last few cold months). I suspect it's the battery as the engine is totally dead and nothing happens at all when I turn the ignition.

Sounds like a fairly straight forward case of trying to jump start the car except the bonnet is jammed shut so I can't get in to do this. I cannot get it to open at all.

The car is declared off road and uninsured (we were planning to sell it but I've got a new job soon so we'll both need a car) so we can't even call the insurance to get someone out to look at it. Unfortunately I am not good with cars at all so my knowledge is limited. Does anyone have any tips on how to get the bonnet open or any recommendations for who/where to call to get it resolved?

A bit of a  Fat Cunt situation really.

Is there not a wee level in the car to open it, or a wee catch under the grill? Assuming you're not just going at it with a crowbar.

What model of car is it?
Silly question but you have double checked that the bonnet release handle has been pulled?
If yes then spray a little bit oil into the seized latch if that’s what is preventing you lifting it

Depending where you are you can try a bump start, key in ignition and turn it on but not to engine start position, 2nd gear and keep foot on clutch then get someone to give it a push until your rolling with a bit of momentum with a bit of speed then take your foot fully off the clutch and put it back on again.

Cheers for the replies so far chaps.

It's suzuki swift. Basically I pulled the leaver inside the car to release the lock on the bonnet. That then opens it slightly and there should be a latch for me to grab onto underneath to completely release the lock and bonnet should open up right up. But for whatever reason the latch isn't there anymore and so the bonnet can only open about an inch.

Had a Google yesterday and looks like I'll have to try and phone someone to come have a look at it unless anyone has any other good ideas.  Lampoon

Turns out my car is as good as fucking useless in the snow FuckMe

Going to have to get some new tyres on it as that was an absolute carry on getting home Laugh

My mum and dads was pretty much untouched after the heavy snowfall and my car could barely make it up the street. I’m usually the first person to have a go at folk driving like spanners at the first dusting as well Laugh

Absolute nightmare at my bit tonight. I live at the top of a steep hill and she couldn't get the car up. I got home and couldn't get my van up.

Note nothing parked in the drive.
