2 hours of terrorists shooting cunts in the head. Wasn't ideal Sunday night viewing Crowe

Went to the joker this afternoon, great score and lead performance as everyone's said. Wasn't mesmerized by it as a whole but it's still obviously a really fine film. I guess I kept thinking how much I like the King of Comedy and how a young de Niro is better than Phoenix, and how an old Lewis is better than an old de Niro.

It's also not got the satire that fight club largely maintains, but not being as good as fight club of king of comedy is hardly a scathing critique.

El Camino

A few loose ends tied up but literally just a cash cow for the producers,
can’t believe the size of Todd and Walters bald cap, you’d think they’d have made more effort, Walters isn’t so bad given it’s a brief cameo but Todd’s in the movie for a decent chunk of it.

Terminator - Dark Fate 6/10

Reasonable Terminator sequel. Some preposterous (even for this subject matter) setup work for what seems a pointless retread. It didn't really pick up momentum until Arnold showed up. The effects are impeccable though and that heft from the fight scenes is there. This is going to lose over 100 million at the box office so it should, and needs to be the last in this franchise. Not great, not terrible.

Outlaw King
A netflix film about Robert the Bruce.
The 6.9 that IMDb gave it is about right.

And to a preview screening of Knives Out on Monday. A really enjoyable film that totally throws you. Definitely worth going to see.

Five minutes in to the irishman. The young filter they're using on de niro that cost fifty million is some uncanny valley shit. Better than LA Noire, but not by much.

Three and a half hours may make it a slog, but it's goodfellas with unions so far.

Saw it in the cinema on Monday. Deaging faces is useless if they still move like auld cunts. It's a good film with great performances but you could easily cut an hour and a half off of it

Half an hour in and de niro just 'beat up' a shopkeeper. It's yer granda kicking a sack of spuds.

Not quite as good as Goodfellas but along the same lines. Loved it.

Very disappointed with the Irishman. I was really looking forward to it as well. Ended up turning it off after an hour because I was bored. I just found it plodding. I'll watch the rest at a later date but I won't be in a rush to do it. Monty Oh Well

Finished it last night, took me three goes. De Niro for the last hour is a tremendous actor, his best performance for quarter of a century.

Would agree that it's quite plodding. It's goodfellas but it lacks the origin - seeing Henry come up through the ranks from a kid looking out his window, to getting pinched to hustling to trying to get his friend made is a complete story and you buy in immediately. This is a fifty year old guy who effectively comes out of nowhere and rises to the top. Why did he turn and become this? I get he was in the war, so killing folk is in him but it's just weird that he's made it to the age of fifty or whatever and is happy driving trucks and then he's dropped in this heady world of trade unions (not as sexy as gangsters btw, despite the obvious similarities).

It's not bad, and maybe i'd have enjoyed it more in the cinema but my thought upon finishing was 'i'll never watch that again'

Old gangsters are the worst. When we saw Jimmy Conway in the diner with his milk-bottle bottom specs towards the end of the film it basically ruined it all for me.

I didn’t mind the de-aging but i do agree that’s hard to tell how old De Niro is meant to be in certain scenes especially with the plot jumping about. The truck driving scene for example is meant to be set in the early 1950s

Finally got round to watching John Wick 2 last night. The usual nonsense. Fucking brilliant. I love that shit.

I'll watch John Wick 3 when Rangers score. So 5 past 3. Monty Chuckle
