Deserves it's own thread IMO. What favours the Talk Hearts Famiglia at the moment?

Saw a mini cafetiere the other day, floated the idea of using one at work today - confirmed I'd be sneered at more than usual. Happy to stick to machine pish during the day tbh as I only drink one or two, mainly just drink water at work.

Looking at getting a bean to cup machine for the house, any recommendations/functions to look out for?

Hit me up with your coffee chat

How much do you want to spend?

I didn't want to spend a fortune so got this one last year

http://www.amazon.co.uk/DeLonghi-Magnifi...323&sr=1-1

It's pretty decent though if you want the best microfoam I'd say you'll need to get something with more pressure.

How do you take your coffee? That might help. If it's just black, there's plenty options that don't require espresso.

That Illy espresso stuff is good for the cafetière.

How much do you put in a 6-cup job to get a strong, black cup? I chucked in 3 heaped teaspoons but it was a little weak for my liking.

3 teaspoons in a 6 cup cafetiere, and you wanted strong coffee. Would you chuck in half a teaspoon for 1 cup? This ain't no instant shit, Francis.

I'm inexperienced Roger. I know as much about cafetière coffee as I do about rimming Laugh

It only actually did 2 and a half normal sized cups, so I was thinking that 3 heaped would be alright.

I've got a scoop, it's probably a tablespoon. I use 2, heaped, per cup.

I have a 25g scoop I use. Heaped one of them does the trick for me.

Rog, I take it with just a dash of milk when I'm in the house but am open to being more adventurous.

Sterling, that looks a nice bit of kit Sound

I didn't use boiling water but the box said I should. Thought that was a weird one.

It might not go down well here but those Kerug machines are, when everything is said and done, the ticket.

It would be a shame if Chrambo ever killed himself over how shallow and empty his life is.

Anyone a fan of bialettis? Quite a nice routine of packing the coffee and filling them, they make coffee that's a bit more like an espresso than you get from a cafetiere, but purists will pull you up for saying it's an espresso. Wiggo

Apparently most folk in italy use one.
