Saw this earlier, quite a cool image IMO, from Stamford Bridge in 1978. Changed days now though.

Would look better dragged through a maroon/red filter. Any idea if Hearts played Chelsea around that time, or is it simply a case of Andy Dunlop's fond of the great Heart of Midlothian.

Not sure, there's a retrospective of photos on the daily mail site, of all places. Some really interesting shots. If only we had London Hearts to tell us if we played them.

How important do you think managers are? Do you think they're generally overvalued?

My dad has a league cup one from 1958, it's really nice, made all the better by the 5-1 scoreline obviously.

To combine two names we've heard together a lot, look at Locke and Mourinho respectively. Both clearly integral to the results their teams have had.

Sorry I wasn't meaning that there's no valuable managers, clearly there are those that are excellent and anomalies like Locke who shouldn't be in football.

More that once you get below that elite group they're all much the same and that it's really down to the clubs / players to affect their success or failure.

No, I see what you're getting at. I feel the same way quite often. Good scouts are worth more than most managers, imo.

Remember Vlad's "database of all the players in the world" which was blatantly just a champ man printout.

It's like a director in film though; they do everything and nothing. They're wholly reliant on the technical ability and skills of their DP, lighting, sound, cameraman etc. They probably can't do a lot of these jobs very well themselves, but know who to get to achieve the desired effect.

At the top level it's about getting the blend right, whereas at Lockie's level it's just about being proficient.

Middlesborough 38%
England 50%
Twente 63%
Wolfsburg 29%
Notts Forest 23%
Twente 48%
Derby 54%
