No, not your kind of flame gang, "going down in style" grooming, Chrambo. :begbie:

I had a quality set of Wahl clippers that did beards, lasted me ages but they packed in a couple of weeks ago. Ended up buying a set of Babyliss things which are fucking horrendous, barely sharp enough to trim down my stubble, let alone give me a close shave as the Wahls did. Anyone got a decent set they could recommend, as I'm going to have to replace these shiters.

Any other grooming tips/questions, fire them in here for the family to help out with or benefit from.

I've got one of those Philips beard trimmers and they're pretty good for keeping things neat and take the plastic bit off for sideburns, was only £20.

Think for clean shave you've got to go for normal razors, for me the electric ones always make my skin really bad and blotchy. Anyone know a good razor brand that isn't a nightmare to clear out every few cm of your face?

Can anybody recommend any decent hair products for medium length (4"+) hair? Strong holding and matt finish, dont want a greasy/wet look. Cheers.

Don't know if it's not greasy looking but VO5 matt clay is your stuff, although someone will probably come and mention fudge or whatever but I've never used any of that kind of thing.

That was my product of choice when my hair was shorter but it's too long and thick for it now.

Cheers for the suggestions, will have a look and see which one fits the bill. I would go with a VO5 rework putty, my hair will be about the same length and I'm a fan.

All the products mentioned so far can be picked up at your local Boots the chemist. Good suggestions if that's your budget.

I'd got for Mr Natty Paste. Can get it online or at John Lewis.

Wahl are the kings of clippers.

Phillips are a decent second choice.

Enjoyed the passive aggressive condescension in this post Laugh

Never heard of that brand before, I'm very much a man who buys most of his everyday toiletries in Sainsbury's or the chemist for convenience, as I absolutely never plan ahead when I need stuff. Original Source for the shower, Tresemme shampoo and conditioner, Loreal or Nivea deodorant etc Laugh What's the consistency / texture of it like? The one irritant with the VO5 is it can be quite sticky and take a fair scrubbing of the hands to clean off properly.

This is the stuff I use. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Fudge-Matte-Text...B000H9HWWS

Good hold and not too sticky. Can't stand hair stuff that goes totally solid.

I was half sneering, half being serious. We'll call it sinsneer. The high street products are pretty good, you can't go too wrong with the V05 matte clay but it's really dry so might not work for longer hair, then the putty stuff is quite wet and oily and can dry hard. Mr Natty is a smooth paste that looks dry once in, and goes through your hair with ease when applying. Muk is another brand I've always liked,. I've just picked up American Crew Fiber which always gets recommended on US sites, it's pretty good and my hair is a bit longer than 4 inch.

I like American Crew products, used to get them from the barber but haven't seen them in any of the places I've tried in the last couple of years.

I realised it was 'sinsneer' (very Community of you Laugh ) which is why I liked it so much Laugh

What's the fams current haircuts looking like? Getting mine snipped tomorrow, was just going for a trim, but now thinking of getting a chop. Been growing it out for about 6 months but can't be hooped with it any more.

Was the same, got my hair cropped (not too short, 8 on top) and haven't looked back. Essential style for winter IMO, nowt worse than hat hair.

No had a haircut in ages, it's reaching ''Frankie Cocozza'' levels Laugh

Usually get 3 at the back and sides, with enough left on the top and a bit of fringe so i can stick wax in it and mess it about.

Usually something like this, except a bit shorter at the sides. Plus i'm not as ugly as him
