So the only confirmation of this is a tweet?

Google it, there's articles in which he says the advance he received for the book will be used, no mention of profits.

Although one article even mentions that the book made £230,000 in just 11 days. That's a good profit for his publisher, who also own the Financial Times...

"In the book, he questions why companies export cars, why Julian Assange is holed up in the Ecuadorian embassy and compares the country's workers to Josef Fritzl's daughter."

Are people genuinely claiming this guy is intelligent? Rofl

Jeezo give it up mate.

Show me the articles if you have them. I saw that one with the £230,000 figure. Daily Mail.

Here is a video of Russell Brand saying it. If you know better than him, fair enough.

http://www.theguardian.com/us-news/video...ters-video

Anyway it is besides the point.

I think he is a fairly intelligent guy, yes. He has a lot of good points to make and is proving to be an effective voice for folk like those involved in the New Era Estate shambles.

Is he a Che Guevara type revolutionary? Naw. He's said as much himself. But he's a guy with a huge platform and has decided to put it to good use. I respect him for that.

So he'll use some of the money gained from the book to open the cafes, as I've said this pays for itself in good PR.

Russel Brand is intelligent in that he saw a great opportunity to make money. Become a 'revolutionary' with a book to go with. When it comes to politics, he knows nothing but what he is fed by his team.

He will fade away in a few months once the book has completed the product cycle. As will most of the 'activists' and 'political experts' that follow him.

Still going down the money-making book route, eh? Laugh Remarkable.

Anyway that is your view and you're entitled to it. Come the revolution you'll be up against the wall. Cool

Peace and love.

"Come the revolution" please don't, I'm cringing so much

Brand is a marketing ploy and he will fade away after the Xmas book sales opportunity has gone.

The 'revolution' will also fade, as the people following it don't even have the intelligence to see that Brand is using them. It's scary, really.

Anyway ...

Here is an article that I think sums up the whole Brand thing pretty well

http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/justin-s...71514.html

Social justice under capitalism means the rich being generous to the poor. Should the rich or the poor begin to question how or why the massive wealth gap between them has arisen and continues to widen...well, that's just being ungrateful.

Hmmmm.

The above is the reaction of most YES supporters when put on the spot about pretty much anything. It's usually followed by:

1. Insisting that their support of independence has absolutely nothing to do with nationalism (yet if it didn't, they wouldn't be so continually infuriated by non-Scots daring to have an opinion).

2. Putting the rise of Ukip down to... wait for it... there being a lot of racists in England. Obviously.

In other words, YES supporters have a laughable habit of making tired, lazy, ignorant, offensive assumptions about others (assumptions which even extend to NO supporters: their fellow Scots). And despite living in the same country as them, many YES supporters have probably never even made the tiniest attempt in their entire lives to understand English people.

One rule for YES supporters; another for everyone else.

I've missed Lawson after he left the other place...

He always generates emotional responses - which is after all, what an internet forum is all about.

Lay off the personal stuff though - please.

On topic I thinks it's great that in a world of vacuous cunt celebrities too scared to have an opinion in case it offends their demographics that Brand is standing up for what he believes in.

Yes he's not as smart as he thinks he is and I don't agree with everything he says but I don't doubt his intentions and fair play to him.

FFS! Don't encourage him! Laugh

I actually quite like him as a poster and have stuck up for him a few times. He does my head in when he dresses up his opinions as stone cold fact though.

shalwson is an emotional flower. The fact he is deluded and knows fuck all about the Scottish independence debate doesn't make him a bad guy.
