48 seconds of post match analysis for the Hearts game.
Forty eight fucking seconds.

If hearts win the question is, "can hearts finish second?", if we lose then the question is "were we wrong to ask can hearts finish second?" and the answer to either is always 'they'll be there or there about'.

How many seconds should there have been? The game was fucking boring.

I'd quite like post match analysis, to you know, have some form of analysis.
"See Hearts changing from 4-3-3 to 4-4-2 early on in the first half?" Nothing "Djoum looks to be a good signing for Hearts" Nothing "How do Accies get some consistency?" Nothing You know, the basic shite you'd expect to get from any other highlights package. The Football League Show looks like the Super Bowl by comparison.

During the 2013 diddy cup final - Special Needs Locke out-thought by Danny Lennon FFS - the commentators actually did this. Actually analysed what was happening tactically. I'd never seen that in Scottish football before, ever.

Spent more time gushing over a neck-less James Forrest kicking the ball round a boy then running after it.

If they asked questions about tactics etc it would be the boring, stock answers these types of clowns trot out repeated week, after week anyway.
I'd rather they just showed a good 7 to 8 minutes of highlights and done away with some ex footballing jobbers blethering Jonathan Wilson-esque shite about midfield trivotes.

Every game isn't going to have 8 minutes worth of highlights but there shouldn't be anything stopping folk chatting about the game for a few minutes afterwards without the patter being;
"Can Aberdeen/Hearts/Ross County/St Johnstone finish 2nd" Then moving on like literally fuck all else happened in the game worthy of discussion. With that Hearts game you could easily have highlighted some of the Hamilton boys flying into challenges, or in the Ross County game, at least acknowledging their presence in the post match discussion. No wonder the BBC don't want to chuck any more dollar at us if this is the slop we're serving up with what they're already giving us.

"Can Aberdeen/Hearts/Ross County/St Johnstone finish 2nd"
That seems to be their go to patter every week, or can so and so get a shout for Scotland after a couple of half decent performances in the SPL, always met with the same answers. "Well, if he keeps working hard" or "they'll be up there"

It's actually sickening watching MOTD2 and seeing it done properly. Just a great bit about Spurs' tactics and pressing there, which took longer than the entire package for most of the Scottish games we just got.

I expect Sportscene to resemble one of those REKT videos by the end of the season.

Does anyone honestly think the people who go on the panel on Sportscene have the ability to break down games like that? Especially when given a long highlights package to try and dissect? I'm not convinced these pundits see the full games in real time a la MOTD.

Guaranteed Jenas and Keown have been in the studio looking over tapes and analysing the games for hours before the programme goes out. It is a NAP that McCall and Thompson stroll in half an hour before recording and get a quick make up, quick mike up and that's them. They'll be talking about games they've seen nothing of before. Jonathan Sutherland asking the most inane questions in the world doesn't help either. It's just an all-around lack of effort. |
