Houndstooth is what you want, son. It screams patrician and demands respect.

Spend the money on a tailored suit.
Walker Slater on Victoria Street. For around £600-700 you will get a beautiful suit that is unique to you and that will be in your wardrobe for decades. You can make a deposit and pay it up over time. Best tailors in Edinburgh. Mozzer

Anything under a grand will be a waste of your money, Morph.

Need to wear suits everyday for work and would echo the shouts for M&S, good selection style and colour wise and you could pick up a couple of semi decent suits for your £300.
You would be gutted if you got one all fitted to your spec and then piled the pounds on and couldn't fasten it.

IMO you're throwing money away getting a tailored suit for your first suit. Styles can change, you might only wear it 2 or 3 times and then it's hanging in your wardrobe for years to come gathering moths. Unless you're like Mozzer who appears to get value from his tailored suits by, I imagine, wearing them a lot, then it'll be a white elephant.
I'd rather spend a couple of hundred on a suit and then have money for quality shoes to go with it, decent ties, shirts, than just have the suit. M&S are very hard wearing and great value, especially for work, and like Floyd says have a big range, also you could have a look in TM Lewin, they have new slim and skinny ranges that look good, I was thinking about going to pick one up for work quite soon actually. Fraser's can be worth a look, I had a few Kenneth Cole suits which I really liked. Reiss as well, though you will be paying twice what you would in M & S but they look mint. http://www.tmlewin.co.uk/The-First-Suit/...GB,sc.html BTW I wouldn't go for black, it's a bit funeral/bouncer/on trial m9. Navy is the way forward. |
