Black suits are only for funerals or tuxedo American football.

Charcoal is appropriate for almost all occasions imo.

Warnock

On the assumption that Morph looks like a malnourished Malcolm in the Middle, that suit would be an excellent choice. Laugh

What's the view on waistcoats? Think they look really smart, but I don't think I'm old / fat enough to pull one off with day-to-day suit wear.

Waistcoats are smart. Why do you have to be fat?

I dunno - I think I've mentally combined them with cummerbunds. Warnock

I was wearing one the other week as part of an argyle kilt outfit, which I thought looked great. I just tend to associate them in court with the elder statesmen; the younger boys wearing them look a bit daft imo.

I'd agree with Acey tbh. Occasionally might work, but not for me.

As long as you don't have the chain of your pocket watch hanging loose then I don't see the problem.

I wore a waistcoat for my wedding, not something I'd wear day to day though.

Don't really fancy a grey suit. If I can't get a decent black/charcoal I'll go for a dark navy.

I'll just see. I fancy going somewhere that I can speak to someone, get properly measured at least and get their advice on what to buy as well.

Can't see that happening in Burtons tho? Would Slaters do that? What about Debenhams, I've seen they have a big suit dept. Bit of an old man shop tho nah? Wouldn't buy anything else out there apart from socks.

Nice one cheers.

What's the deal with pinstripes are they a no go? Quite fancy a really subtle pinstripe, not bugsy malone gangster style tho.

Also, I've bought a couple of suits from debenhams before and they were pretty helpful. The suits lasted for a good while too. Wouldn't rule them out.
