Aye it'll be cover for if/when Russell gets his Mercedes drive.

Could anyone see Hamilton retiring during the season if he isn't flying ahead? I think he wants an 'easy' 8th title so he can retire on top as the greatest driver in history.

People may not like Hamilton but he's a ruthless winner. He's never shown any inkling in his character of being a quitter in his whole life.

True - I actually really like him, but that's the only explanation I can get for Russell getting those odds other than it being as cover as you say.

I do think he has lost a bit of interest in F1, though. He has so many other things going on that I could imagine them being his priorities in the near future.

Again, i'm not really feeling that too much. Mercedes has given him free reign to pursue all his other activities. He certainly has big plans for when he retires but he loves racing and winning. He will quit as soon as he feels the young ones catching up with his aging years in order to protect his legacy though - which could be in a couple of years for sure.

What I reckon will happen is that Verstappen will go to Mercedes and join with Russell and Hamilton will go to Red Bull for a year or two, creating a contract whereby he can do some radical stuff as Red Bull driver. As an energy drinks company their brand requires people who are creative and want to go "beyond sport". I think Hamilton will end up at RB with the proviso that he can pursue lots of extra-curricular activities (e.g. music, environmentalism, clothing brands, race equality issues etc...)

Merc accommodate him while RB would encourage him I think.

Funny enough my mate who works at McLaren said the widely held belief in F1 is if/once Lewis wins the 8th he's a goner for certain 100%

Might be shite, might know more or less than some, but weird it been mentioned and me and him had been talking just the other day. Only really Lewis will know if we're being honest obviously

Agreed, he definitely won't go until he's won the 8th.

If Merc are looking at Verstappen and Russell for 2022 then his hand may be forced.

Would love to see him in a Ferrari Piggy but it looks unlikely.

Might be doing a long fuel run? Check the tire compound too.

I hope he does well this season, I did see him lose the back end a little this morning though.

Actually gutting to hear. Loved his Murrayisms. 97 is a cracking age to reach.

Same, I was never a big fan of F1, but he seemed to make everything sound so exciting when I was a kid, that I couldn’t help but watch it.

Some age to get to though, fair play to him.

"And look at that" in his excited voice. Monty Chuckle I think every driver held him in high esteem. Good all round guy.

Spa 98 is his finest performance I think, when Schumacher clatters into the back of Coulthard Laugh

About to set up the Fantasy F1 for this year, are we wanting to do it for a bit of cash this year or not? You can enter up to 3 teams I think so could say £5 a team with money going to first and second place.
