Their option on him expired at the end of July apparently and Alonso announced he was leaving without giving them prior warning on 1st August
Leclerc was 25 seconds clear in 5th, pitted to go for fastest lap, didn't get anywhere near it and got a 5 second penalty for speeding in the pit lane so drops below Alonso into 6th

Valid point but why didn't Perez close in on Sainz? Is it down to the car or the driver? Verstappen didn't struggle.
