Have I picked this up wrong or would I be getting the same income from the gvt as a disabled single mum with 3 kids if we stayed in the same place?
If I'm wrong and the rates are going to fluctuate based on circumstances like children, disabilities etc then what difference is it from our current benefits system?

I think you'd get the same UI, but they might get some other benefit based on the situation you described. I don't know though.
Going by the the article linked by AP someone with disabilities will get additional cash also housing benefit will be separate.
A guaranteed cash sum a month might make me reassess my career choice. Go do something else with out worrying too much about not being on the same cash etc.
Would it just not push the prices of everything up though?
Especially prices for renting.
With people having more disposable income, could that not push up the price of everything therefore creating the same problem as before?
Genuine question, why do people with disabilities get paid more cash?
I'd imagine there are plenty additional costs associated with a variety of disabilities MJ

Any extra costs will be specific, but almost all disabled people will face increased transport costs as getting about is often tricky and public transport isn't perfect, so taxis probably eat up a fair amount. Also, quite often stuff provided by the nhs, like wheelchairs, isn't suitable, so needs to be upgraded. There's also a litany of things around the house that will be bespoke (sockets at the wrong height, lights, cutlery), nevermind adjustments to the house itself.

I agree with the concept but not so much with the trial, it's got to be Universal or nothing at all. Surely there will be factors based on it being a small number of people that you won't see when it's national? Makes a trial pointless for me. All or nothing.

Saying that, if they want to trial it in Edinburgh, I'd probably support that.
