Incredible footage.
It's a Chinese hoax though so we're all good. I'm not listening la la la.

Climate change

Some video that. Really struggled to put any kind of scale on it when watching, and trying to imagine those bits of ice being the size of buildings just hurt my head.

Just looks like a wee diddy bit of ice until you see Manhattan superimposed on top
02-17-2017, 01:58 PM
That was from 2012 wasn't it ?
Scary stuff when you see the scale.

Frightening to see that, and then the photo of how much of the glacier had melted in 10 years afterwards as well.
The planet is goosed

Meh. There's always been changes in the earths climate.

The planet's fucked and there's fuck all we can do about it.

I thought the video looked really fake at points. Like a early 2000s disaster movie

Iceberg 1/4 the size of Wales has broken off the Antarctic. 1 trillion tonnes

Read about it earlier, pretty cool, but just something that happens. Only half as big as the biggest ever recorded though.
Negligible effect on ocean levels as it was already floating in the ocean.

Population is the real problem. And the locations large amounts of the population like and have chosen to live in.
Man made climate change may or may not be happening. It's not really the big problem here though. If the population of the Earth continues to explode more people are going to be exposed to extremes of weather and disasters - even if everything in terms of climate etc stayed exactly the same [Which it hasn't ever but that's another point]. It's simple numbers. There's too many of us. No easy solution of course. I'm sure nature will work something out. It always does eventually.

Pretty sure the population could double and we'd still be alright. Population has nothing to do with it, it's what we as a population are doing that's the problem.

I think man made climate change is the real problem tbh

We can easily handle ten billion as we are and will be able to handle more by the time we reach ten billion. Malthusian dribblings to detract from real issues is nothing new and is symptomatic of the easily led masquerading as anything but the dullards they are. |
