Its the same as up here - a moratorium has been put in place. It isnt an outright ban.

Just something I’ve been thinking about for a while but seeing all the photos of coast lines and waterways clearer than ever with animals making comebacks in places because we’re not ruining the world just now, would it be a bad thing to suggest a worldwide lockdown for a month a year to give nature and the climate a chance to reset every so often?

I’m not sure if it’s related but my hay fever has been non existent this year so far, starting to wonder if pollution is a bigger part of the problem than the pollen.

Not if you want to collapse the economy every year.

It’s been nice but it was always going to be very short lived, was reading that pollution levels in Wuhan are now back to where they were with them exceeding the same level of pollution than this time last year.

That is absolutely mental considering a large part of the country was shut down for months.

Yeah unfortunately it will never happen because of the economy. I’m the same with my hay fever, not had it yet at all and I’ve been working quite rurally.

'But the economy' is going to doom us all, isn't it? Monty Oh Well

I suspect most people would probably be quite alright with adopting a system not based upon infinite growth on a finite planet: four-day workweek, UBI, no more outsourcing of manufacturing, etc. Alas, those that hold the power would sooner see the planet burn than accept a modest reduction in wealth.

If we eased up, we might start getting things like orcas thinking they're top dogs on this planet.

Better that a few of them get plastic waste stuck in their blowholes to remind them who's boss, imo Vlad Shrug

Monty Chuckle  wouldn’t mind Orcas and other whales getting a wee population boost and picking off some scum bag whalers tbh  :Quite Good

I know it’ll never happen as long as the economy is the be all and end all but thought it was worth a discussion, even the weather has been a bit more settled since lockdown started. Probably all be chance and luck really but think there’s plenty chance it’s connected to pollution being down across the board.

Conversely - my hay fever has been a right cunt over the last couple of weeks.
