Freedom square again Monty LewLew

Let's hope if we are to get independence that the yes movement actually try to engage with people who are on the other side rather than having wankathons on Buchanan street every weekend. Shitwine

EU has just made a statement saying that Scotland would need to apply to EU as a new country (not that this is news to most).

SNP airbrushed out those claims of automatic entry recently anyway, what's interesting today is that the single market argument has now been ripped up. Interested to see which path they take now.

Agreed. As a man who voted Labour recently in the British and Scottish elections - this can't be led by the SNP. Thankfully Salmond is less toxic than Sturgeon, but it's time to reach out across party lines. Huge mistake last time.

Really hope we do the Norway route. Full single market access in exchange for freedom of movement and EU legislation, but with our own currency.

Sturgeon is less toxic I'd agree (think you meant that) The further salmond is from the whole thing the better the chance will be.

Patrick harvie might be a good shout to lead the yes side.

The independence movement is hamstrung by having odious cunts like Sturgeon and Harvie plus a band of unwashed lefties and shite weegie comedians as the face of it. Salmond will have to be in the spotlight 24/7. I'm sure he'll hate that Laugh

Yeah, that's what I meant. It's probably best to have Sturgeon "guiding it" rather than a figure "leading it". Even if she is pulling the strings from behind the curtain.

Patrick Harvie is a dignified reasonable guy, but he would be used as punchbag by right wingers, they would try and do a Corbyn on him. Luckily he isn't as wet a blanket as Corbyn, but he does have a wee whiny midget voice. Warnock

Patrick Harvie can't lead the yes campaign if it's to have any credibility. Labour could be missing a trick by picking the no campaign this time so hopefully MacLeish gets involved in trying to drum up support amongst the Labour Party.

Looking at the timeline she's called, single market access is out the window. Unless they are planning for years of economic turmoil first.

We're not voting for the SNP to lead an independent nation though, just deliver it.

Labour has lost a lot of its heavyweights in Scotland so it's gonna be wall to Ruth Jong-Un, Creepy Mundell and Big Willie Rennie. Will also be interested to see how Better Together mark ll spin the instability at U.K. level.

The big vote swayers were the EU and the pound. The EU is no longer on the table and the SNP have already said that they were unlikely to propose a monetary union this time round.

Join up now, if for nothing more than to add to Dave's toxic legacy of breaking the UK into bits all to appease lunatics in the Tory party jjay

Our single market trade is a fraction of what we do with the rest of the UK. Why shouldn't we prioritise that?

I read one million Scottish votes went to Leave, largely to free us from freedom of movement and EU bureaucracy I'd say, not many will want to go there again so soon after.

Sturgeon is using Brexit as the reason for another crack at the big prize but I would say Brexit has damaged our independence chances rather than strengthened them. The inherent 'Am no losing out' Jock attitude will result in a larger No majority IMO. With the EU dream fading into the distance, folk up here will grab hold of the Westminster breest to suckle even more.
