Quote:Michael Gove raised the prospect of holding a bank holiday on November 1 amid concerns that a no-deal Brexit would cause turmoil on the financial markets.

Mr Gove, who is in charge of no-deal preparations, said that the government would consider the idea during a meeting with business leaders yesterday.

Quote:Labour MPs opposed to a second referendum are considering a “radical and dramatic intervention” to make clear to Jeremy Corbyn and Boris Johnson they are prepared to vote for a Brexit deal, with one estimating that dozens of colleagues are now ready to back the withdrawal agreement.

Stephen Kinnock, the Labour MP who coordinates around 30 MPs in a group called Respect the Result, said he believed that passing the withdrawal agreement was the most certain way of stopping the UK crashing out without a deal.

I can only assume Kinnock's stance is because he's scared of losing his safe seat in a Leave Constituency (despite backing Remain himself)? I wonder what his father who was a former EU Commissioner, his mother who was a former MEP, his wife who was a former MEP and Prime Minister of a country in the EU, think of it all?

Johnson's latest offer to the EU re. Ireland is one they can only reject. It can only reasonably be assumed it's been offered with the intention that it should be rejected and Johnson can spin the line that the EU are being unreasonable.

Warnock

Why would Ireland ever do that?

Even when suggesting something as ridiculous as that, they still can’t help but be patronising cunts.

Quote:The person added: "Ideally though, the EU would formally propose it rather than us [so] it is more acceptable to the Irish."

Tbf, he's got most of the minor parties in league to work against no-deal in parliament and has put the more fanciful idea that they'll install him as emergency PM to the backburner. It might not work, but it's the most realistic plan of action he's attempted in quite some time.
