Smith and Whelan are the only ones who get pass marks from me, never thought I’d say it but Wighton played well and was let down being partnered with McLean

He made a few decent runs, also created a chance that could easily have put us 1-0 ahead but McLean fluffed it and subsequently got hooked, I was at the other end of the ground and haven’t watched it back on TV but I reckon if Naismith has been fit and on the park he’d have made more of the chance than auld man river

You’re obviously wrong here, Wighton didn’t play “well”, but leaving aside the hyperbole of this site where it’s been decided he’s the worst player ever to pull on the shirt etc, his shiteness has been exaggerated. There was a comment on the match thread yesterday saying “has he even touched the ball” just after he’d broken through twice, once laying the ball in to an inexcusably offside MacLean, at which point folk are just seeing what they want to see to reinforce their pre-existing views.

You’re right that he was let down by his supposedly experienced partner and that he did have a few moments here and there - the problem is, a few moments is nowhere NEAR good enough for a Hearts player and if you’re saying that’s playing well, you’re grossly lowering your standards. How can you play well in a forward position when you’re so rarely on the ball? He wasn’t the worst player on the park - only Bozanic can rival MacLean for that ‘honour’, and the likes of White and Clare were worse, but come off it, playing well? Warnock

Franko I have never sung his praises before but his movement and runs were decent, he was let down by McLean and his service was non existent due to Clares powderpuff performance and Bozanic not having any positional awareness, it’s the first time I’ve actually been positive about Craig Wighton- a 3-0 semi final loss, yes it probably says more about hearts than Wighton. I’ve based my opinion on the first half as I did miss the first 20 mins of the second half due to my mates son wanting a pie and Hampdens stalls being run like a gala day fare,

I’m probably one of the few on here who don’t think he’s a lost cause - I think his movement is ok and he does, every so often, do something that shows hints of ability. Has to do so much more though. He looks weak and slow, and without that physical power or pace, he’s not able to affect a game like a Hearts forward should.

The argument isn’t whether he can play or not. I’ve heard he’s very effective in reserve team football for example. The question is , will this guy within two years be one of the best players at the club. If the answer is no then that’s the end of the conversation.

You can answer a potential yes to that question for Hickey, Halkett, Mulraney etc...you can even make a case for Cochrane and Uche if they can hook up all the parts of their game. The answer is No for Wighton though.

I don’t mind perservering with shite players if they come through our academy (Godinho/Brandon etc...) but boys like Wighton/Clare etc... they are wasting our time and we are wasting theirs.

Berra should be stripped of the captaincy, i know that much. Smith and Naismith would be ahead of him for me, even Halkett.
It will be interesting to see if Stendel sticks with him just to keep the piece.
Personally i'd get Berra a move in January, Robbie can have him at Utd.

Berra will be on a big wage. I can't see him being willing to move as he knows he's done.

We'll probably struggle to get rid of many of our players due to the money Levein has flung at them, not to mention the fact that a lot of them are shite.
Stendel mentioned how he plans on making them more confident, so i'm not completely writing them off just yet.
We'll see how it goes i suppose.

My concern is that Berra is overconfident, in the sense that he consistently makes himself available for selection. Lampoon

He's probably got dementia to be honest. His brain must look like a bit of bully beef at this stage.

Usually the club captain is on the biggest wage.

Tell me Berra didn't get an extension to his contract Fat Cunt like Don Cowie when he was so clearly past it, Levein sprang in to action and done his mate a solid.
