One of those moments in which everyone remembers where they were. I was in home economics class in school and the teacher wheeled through the telly and we all sat and watched.
I went to the memorial museum a few years back. They have a section in which no photography is allowed and it's just pictures of all the people that died that day. When we were there this elderly couple were there and looking for the picture of their grandson who was a fireman and died in the towers. The old lady completely broke down when they found it. Horrible.

I was doing street lighting in Livi. Ended up with a small crowd around the van listening to updates on the radio, remember thinking that these cunts live around here, why not fuck off and watch it on the telly. Poignant stuff
When I was at the memorial in New York there were loads of tourists taking selfies with selfie sticks at the big fountains.
Lots of people just not really judging the tone of the place at all.

I was there when it was still a building site and there were guys going crazy at folk with their cameras out.

I was heading to Gala from Peebles when the news on Radio 2 finished and Steve Wright came on. He immediately mentioned a plane hitting one of the twin towers in New York but didn't have any details.
He played a record or 2 and then said a 2nd plane has hit the 2nd tower. He also said there were 7 planes missing over the USA. By the time I got to the depot everyone was talking about it. Our runner came out and said one of the towers had just collapsed.
It was then I decided to go home and watch it.
16 years ago though.

Had no idea until I got in the car after school and my mum was crying. Trying to explain to us what happened.
Got in from school and pretty much sat in my room watching the news all night.
It really did change the world - Iraq, Afghanistan and the fallout from both wouldn't have happened if it wasn't for that.
Quite extraordinary actually.

Surely anyone of school age was in school? Had the telly pulled into my class as well. History I think. Surprised that others didn't.
