If his natural game isn’t running the channels off a striker who drops deep then it’s going to take him a few games to adapt, particularly if he’s coming back from injury. It isn’t ideal that we don’t have a midfielder who wants to run beyond MacLean to create a bit more space either.

Djoum and Lee have been playing fine but they’re either sitting a bit deeper or playing out to the left, rather than getting up to support the forwards. Got to hope Wighton can adapt and improve a bit with more game time.

You are right about Wighton playing behind the main striker (or a target man) as he is more of a No. 10 who plays his best when given more of a free role behind the striker as in this video. He has never been an out and out striker.

I think he'll be good in the long run, won't see it this season but I think next season we'll start to see better from him.

As long as he avoids injury, he's had a really bad injury recently and I think he's only being used now because of the dire injury situation.

I'm happy to wait and judge Wighton when he plays when he gets a run of playing with Uche or Vanecek tbh. Maclean definitely doesn't strike me as the ideal partner for him, more than happy to end up being wrong mind you because I don't really want to have to wait 2 months for our next goal.

Aye I mean it's probably unfair to judge him until De Bruyne and David Silva are laying them on a plate for him

Imagine giving a player who has hardly kicked a ball in over 12 months time to get up to speed and get his confidence back

Getting booed for slipping will fill him with confidence.

He did have a poor second half, but you could say that about everyone with the possible exception of Djoum and Haring. I thought he looked lively in the first, and was given very little help by MacLean.

The hearts support is terrible at times. Boy needs a run of games. Hopefully sticks one in the net at Paisley

Posters were claiming Naisy was finished last season after being out for a while and needing games. Ridiculous to write him off at this stage.

Tbf I think I keep forgetting that he recently had a long term injury.

Frustrating that we’re bringing in players though who aren’t ready, he has been here for a while now so he must’ve been quite far away from full fitness if it’s still an issue now.
