Probably leveins best patch of his career the start of this season, an anomaly. I fucking despise having to watch his sides I hated it as a kid and I hate it now.

With you there. I hated the likes of McKenna up top. Dire.

Seems to have gone back into his shell once we got those injuries. Sad to see as, as hes that afraid of losing that he can't win. Fucking shite.

You are spot on on re the anomaly. Regardless of some injuries we have again recruited abysmally and what we are seeing now is far more the standard of the team than a brief run at the start of the season. If you actually look at our performances other than a hard fought win over Celtic, a stirring cup win over Motherwell and an excellent first half at home to today's opponents that saw us hold on to a win we have been largely shite even in several of the wins. Both the wins away at Killie and Motherwell were in dire matches and Hamilton early on and at home to St Mirren and away at Dundee are exactly the sort of results Levein routinely gets against the bottom feeders. He'll no doubt beat the pish poor Hamilton again this week. Some of the results have masked the total mediocrity of the performances and the utter shiteness of the opposition. 5pts out the last 27 says at all and is overall record away against our main competitors is a sackable offence in itself.

He really, really isn't. Levein:

1. Left Cowdenbeath top of the table

2. Waded through ten tons of shite to create a new Hearts, who did amazingly in 2002/3: especially in the second half of the season

3. Achieved incredible consistency in 2003/4: when despite big cutbacks and absolute chaos off the field, we ended up with only 6 points fewer than we achieved with a star-studded, massively overpaid squad in 2005/6. Under Levein, we didn't lose at home to a non-OF side for 2 years FFS.

4. Waded through ten tons of shite at Dundee United, who'd been atrocious for a decade, to turn them around. Left them for Scotland when they were doing great midway through 2009/10.

Since then? Not good. Not good at all. Time for him to go? Still no, regardless of what happens against Hibs (unless it's a hammering, that is). The winter shutdown's coming at the right time - and we'll need to hit the ground running on the return. That's what'll decide his future.

The anomaly was in relation to the start to this season Shaun, with this group of total average footballers. A couple of good ones amongst a sea of total shite. I don't honestly give a flying fuck about what he did in the early 2000's at Hearts or the late 2000's at Dundee Utd but by the way he still won absolutely fuck all and many managers of many smaller Scottish clubs have succeeded in winning trophies before and since.

He will achieve diddly squat this season or in any future season we are made to suffer through his abysmally dated management. Yes he will continue to beat the worst of the SPL on a regular basis but out with that he will never win meaningful football matches on anything like a consistent basis.

Next Saturday could be a watershed moment for him as Lennon's Hibs are substantial favorites to inflict another defeat on his team of mediocre shite. His record away at the bigger clubs is a complete horror show, a footballing disgrace which should be brought to the attention of those who continue to defend the loser at every possible turn. As should the fact he would garner absolutely no interest from any comparable club to Hearts anywhere should he be unemployed. He is simply not good enough in any way, shape or form.

Hekens

It seems it's all down to his own confidence in a team's ability to attack.

There's all sorts of reasons for his approach, Lawson will provide the verbose analysis no doubt.

JJ second time around got chucked after a horrific run of form. Sad, but correct decision, Sergio did a good job under the circumstances though.

Think he's done now.

Mostly for reasons of almost unbelievably bad luck: which I've touched on before, and have no desire to do so again.

In the last 56 (about to be 57) years, how many Hearts managers didn't win fuck all? Three: one of whom wasn't even a proper manager; another of whom was slagged off for the league campaign regardless (and both these two had massive wage bills of double or more what we spend now). In the last 112 years, the number of trophy-winning Hearts managers rises to... four. 4 out of 31 different managers.

He is "simply not good enough" because Mike McCurry cheated his side at the League Cup Final? "Simply not good enough" because the Old Firm were spending absolute fortunes throughout his first spell, while he was cutting? "Simply not good enough" when injuries have totally screwed us?

And you can say - and I would agree - that he's too defensive, too negative, too fearful very often. You can say that our current run is atrocious too - though JJ had those as well, frequently. A lot more often than Levein. Our away record is indefensible, I entirely agree. But "simply not good enough"... to do what? To do something hardly any Hearts manager ever does? Who do we think we are?

The target at the start of the season was to reach Hampden (which we did) and finish top four. Whether we achieve the latter remains to be seen. I haven't the foggiest whether we will, though it's obviously looking very doubtful right now. And if we don't finish top 4, then barring something remarkable in the Cup, he'll go. And we'll move on.

Warnock  He's never even taken Hearts to a cup final and the 2 semi final's we've gone to have seen total capitulations and thousands of Hearts fans had long left both stadiums before the final whistle. That he is not good enough is a more a general comment, not good enough for Hearts, not good enough for any club wanting a modicum of success. He is of no interest to other clubs of a similar size anwywhere, a busted flush of a manager and a divisive figure throughout football. He is someone that because of his reasonable intelligence and ability to string a sentence together, admittedly fairly uncommon combination in Scottish football circles has been able to pull the wool over the eyes of some amongst the Hearts support as well as the current owner but the facts don't lie and his career is littered with failure. How much longer we have to put up with the charade us anyones guess but Budge's recent 'interview' only underlines how besotted she remains with him.

By the way since Levein moved to the 3rd biggest club in Scotland in 2000 and thereafter his subsequent jobs the following clubs have won major honors in Scotland.

Hearts twice of course neither of which when he was at the club
Hibs twice
Aberdeen
Dundee Utd of course when he was not at the club
Livingston
Ross County
ICT
St Johnstone
St Mirren
Kilmarnock

And here’s a list of managers (out with the Old Firm's managers) who have won a major trophy (Scottish Cup or Scottish League Cup) since Levein was appointed Hearts manager in 2000....definitely down to luck Shaun, yeah luck  Monty Ooh

David Hay
Derek McInnes
Jim McIntyre
Valdas Ivanaskaus
Danny Lennon
John Collins
Kenny Shield
Peter Houston
Paulo Sergio
Tommy Wright
John Hughes
Alan Stubbs

His record is a complete embarsssment given the fact he’s had 2 spells at the 3rd biggest club in the country and the advantages, support and resources that goes with it. Serial failure.

Craig Levein has won absolutely NOTHING. NOTHING. And he never will.

Good posts, Hendricks. I'm fucking sick of Levein. It is so predictable, you can always tell when we will win or lose.

Shaun, the reason people say “not good enough” is because they are sick of going to see Hearts away and having to watch that shite.

Yogi has won a trophy ffs. With a fraction of the resources Levein has.

Our Scottish Cup run will be so predictable as well. Win against Livi and then if we are away or get a top 4 team we are out. Maybe blame the ref or an injury if we are lucky.

I’ll feel a lot better about our chances of doing anything when Uche and one of Dunne (if he is staying beyond January) and Souttar come back. Until then, we will struggle and struggle badly.
