That list is absolutely terrifying. This is exactly what I'm talking about when I say we're haemorrhaging. We're just flinging countless sums about the place at players and hoping the law of averages means one or two of them might work out well.
Scary that the list is only for players that have played under Cathro onwards. Let's not forget the dross like Duada, Kenny Anderson and everyone else that got a look in under Neilson. I'm sure we signed about four keepers in the championship season alone.

Duada
The number of players man
01-25-2019, 01:21 PM
Mad how everyone called Buaben - Bauben but then folk called Dauda - Duada.
01-25-2019, 01:43 PM
I'm just copying HTG, no idea what the guys name is I called him Dow-da though. Is that right?
01-25-2019, 01:47 PM
Aye, I believe that's right. Was just an observation.
Did he not score 2 in a midweek game against county? Very decent finishes too and I thought we were on to something, he came with a reasonable reputation anaw.

Mind duadas goal against Celtic. The power, turn of pace and finish
Never saw anything like it from him again

He actually seemed a decent player but just didn't give a fuck and we were murder at the time.

107 goals in 294 career apps at a reasonable level, not the worst of players, think we just got him at a bad time.

So I've added the players from the Neilson season and a half to give a total figure. This is the list of players who have played in the Hearts first team during the Budge/Levein regime which is half way through its fifth season.......... 113 players have been listed in Hearts first team fixtures during that period of time. Sadly Lee Hollis wasn't a youngster, but he did win me a sweet fortune in goals during a Petrofac cup tie.

Hollis and Halliwell were only drafted in because Alexander and Gallagher got injured and Hamilton was Cup-tied

As we look towards the massive rebuilding job the new manager, hopefully Stendel, is going to undertake I updated the list of players who have been listed in a Hearts first team for competitive fixtures during the Budge/Levein era. Their regime is approaching the midway point in its 6th season. In that time 121 players have pulled on the shirt for our first team:
(9 keepers) Neil Alexander Scott Gallacher Jack Hamilton Lee Hollis Viktor Noring Jon McLaughlin Zdenek Zlamal Colin Doyle Joel Pereira (34 defenders) Alim Ozturk Danny Wilson Adam Eckersley Kevin McHattie Brad McKay Blazej Augustyn John Souttar Callum Paterson Liam Smith Jordan McGhee Igor Rossi Faycal Rherras Krystian Nowak Andraz Struna Lennard Sowah Aaron Hughes Tasos Avlonitis Jamie Brandon Marcus Godinho Daniel Baur Juwon Oshinawa Christophe Berra Michael Smith Connor Randall Rafal Grzelak Demetri Mitchell Ashley Smith-Brown Ben Garuccio Clevid Dikamona Jimmy Dunne Conor Shaughnessy Aaron Hickey Craig Halkett Aidy White (41 midfielders) Morgaro Gomis Billy King Miguel Pallardo El Hassnaoiu Jason Holt Kenny Anderson Scott Robinson Danny Swanson Jamie Walker Arnaud Djoum Don Cowie Perry Kitchen Sam Nicholson Prince Bauben Alexandros Tziolis Malaury Martin Choulay Dario Zanatta Dylan Bikey Euan Henderson Manuel Milinkovic Ross Callachan Harry Cochrane Lewis Moore Anthony McDonald Joaquim Adao Danny Amankwaa Andy Irving Alex Petkov Peter Haring Olly Lee Callumn Morrison Oliver Bozanic Sean Clare Jake Mulraney Bobby Burns Ryan Edwards Loic Damour Glen Whelan Ryataro Meshino (24 forwards) Juanma James Keatings Osman Sow Genero Zeefuik Dale Carrick Gary Oliver Robbie Buchanan Gavin Reilly Bjorn Johnsen Conor Sammon Robbie Muirhead Isma Goncalves Tony Watt Rory Currie Angus Beith Kyle Lafferty Steven Naismith Cole Stockton Aidan Keena Steven MacLean Uche Ikpeazu Craig Wighton David Vanecek Conor Washington (13 youngsters have featured on the bench and or had short run outs) Chris Hamilton Leeroy Makavora Dean Ritchie Sean Ward Cameron Logan Connor Smith David Smith Sean McKirdy Alistair Roy Nathan Flanagan Ian Smith Liam Gordon Bryn Halliwell It has been clear for several years that the recruitment of players given the substantial budget available has been absolutely shambolic and the list above is simply damning evidence of that. It is essential that the people who have been involved in the decision making process behind such a horrendous systemic failure are completely removed from their roles and people who know what they are doing in terms of sourcing and then scoring appropriate players are put in place. This should without question include significant input from the new manager as to the players he wants to rebuild a team that is at the lowest of ebbs. There will undoubtably need to be yet another clear out of the dead wood and players who are nowhere near the standard required once he has had the opportunity to assess which players he can get more from and which are lost causes. The amount of money Levein and his cohorts have wasted on utter shite will no doubt handicap the process in the short term but it has to be hoped that Budge will have promised funds for him to bring in players in several key areas. Many of us have said it for years but a quality over quantity mantra has to be used to get the most out of the budget available.

I don't know if it's a good comparison. But looking at other clubs makes me rage at Hearts.
Take Ross County. Must have such a shit budget. They get Liam Boyce from Cliftonville. See the potential in Jackson Irvine from Celtic. Now have Ross Stewart up front being trailed by decent English clubs. They bought him for £40k from St Mirren. You could go through Motherwell. Killie. Livingston. They all have decent success stories from scouting. I can't actually think of a really good example of us buying well and selling on for a big profit. Which was a fundamental part of the plan. You can add to that our fabled youth set up. Meant to have been perfected by Levein. Where is the talent breaking through? Seriously. We're still talking about Keena. Motherwell have teenagers bagging doubles up front. Killie are selling full backs to Celtic and wingers to Man City and will be spending peanuts next to us on youth. OK Hickey. But even then we threw in a 16 year old in blind panic. Where are the 18 and 19 year olds who are now first team ready? Why am I still thinking of players like Lewis Moore? Recruitment AND youth are abysmal. I do get angry especially the thought of the agm and still a queen Anne contingent in the room.

Budge when asked about MacPhee's future: “He's been working on the recruitment side of things for a few months now".
This has to be put to an immediate stop. Like tonight. At this time nobody employed by our football club out with Daniel Stendel should be allowed to have any hand in signing one more player. The catalogue of disastrous signings is endless not to mention the length of some of the contracts handed out. That team team today was utterly abysmal and the majority of those involved need punted. That is clearly going to take time however a line has to be drawn in the sand. The naivety and misplaced loyalty of Budge coupled with the total incompetence of Levein and MacPhee has left us in dire straits and that setup needs nuked once and for all. They should all be told to stay away and severance packages should be authorised and organised. They have been the architects of the catastrophic recruitment and once again is was on display for all to see at Tynecastle this afternoon. Tasking people who who have overseen one of the most disgraceful periods of negative results in the history of our club (that is not hyperbole it is fact) with massively important decisions given their track record is gross negligence and I hope there is an appetite for shouting this from the roof tops at Tuesday's AGM. If Budge won't do it herself she needs it demanded of her.
More or less year on from the last bump so let's add in the latest dross Budge and her inept football department have signed. Into her 7th season in charge, we've seen Stendel come and go, the exit at long last of Levein, a demotion to the Championship and the start of the Neilson II era which after the last week or two is headed down a familiar road.....now at 136 players having been named for a competitive fixtures in that time. Most incredible to me is the 48 midfielders and you only need look at the list to see just how many have been utterly dire.
Nothing has changed over the last couple of years, the academy continues to disappoint and the first team recruitment remains a serious and constant issue and one that nobody ever appears to be held accountable for. The millions upon millions that have been wasted on players who have provided absolutely no ROI is amazing, even now it continues with the likes of Damour absent with no explanation. The fans money has been wasted both on and off the park but the list below is stark reminder why we have seen losses to the likes of Birkirkara and today Alloa Athletic. When Budge departs we need a total overhaul of the footballing side of the club. (11 keepers) Neil Alexander Scott Gallacher Jack Hamilton Lee Hollis Viktor Noring Jon McLaughlin Zdenek Zlamal Colin Doyle Joel Pereira Craig Gordon Ross Stewart (36 defenders) Alim Ozturk Danny Wilson Adam Eckersley Kevin McHattie Brad McKay Blazej Augustyn John Souttar Callum Paterson Liam Smith Jordan McGhee Igor Rossi Faycal Rherras Krystian Nowak Andraz Struna Lennard Sowah Aaron Hughes Tasos Avlonitis Jamie Brandon Marcus Godinho Daniel Baur Juwon Oshinawa Christophe Berra Michael Smith Connor Randall Rafal Grzelak Demetri Mitchell Ashley Smith-Brown Ben Garuccio Clevid Dikamona Jimmy Dunne Conor Shaughnessy Aaron Hickey Craig Halkett Aidy White Mihai Popescu Stephen Kingsley (48 midfielders) Morgaro Gomis Billy King Miguel Pallardo El Hassnaoiu Jason Holt Kenny Anderson Scott Robinson Danny Swanson Jamie Walker Arnaud Djoum Don Cowie Perry Kitchen Sam Nicholson Prince Bauben Alexandros Tziolis Malaury Martin Choulay Dario Zanatta Dylan Bikey Euan Henderson Manuel Milinkovic Ross Callachan Harry Cochrane Lewis Moore Anthony McDonald Joaquim Adao Danny Amankwaa Andy Irving Alex Petkov Peter Haring Olly Lee Callumn Morrison Oliver Bozanic Sean Clare Jake Mulraney Bobby Burns Ryan Edwards Loic Damour Glen Whelan Ryataro Meshino Donis Avdijav Tony Sibbick Marcel Langer Jordan Roberts Elliott Frear Josh Ginnelly Andy Halliday (25 forwards) Juanma James Keatings Osman Sow Genero Zeefuik Dale Carrick Gary Oliver Robbie Buchanan Gavin Reilly Bjorn Johnsen Conor Sammon Robbie Muirhead Isma Goncalves Tony Watt Rory Currie Angus Beith Kyle Lafferty Steven Naismith Cole Stockton Aidan Keena Steven MacLean Uche Ikpeazu Craig Wighton David Vanecek Conor Washington Liam Boyce (16 youngsters have featured on the bench and or had short run outs) Chris Hamilton Leeroy Makavora Dean Ritchie Sean Ward Cameron Logan Connor Smith David Smith Sean McKirdy Alistair Roy Nathan Flanagan Ian Smith Liam Gordon Bryn Halliwell Scott McGill Aidan Denholm Arron Darge

Not to be a dick when you've put that amount of effort in, but Bryn Halliwell is about 40 year old mate He should be in the main list.

Vanecek forgot about that lad. Treated the club with the contempt it probably deserves and then went back abroad to get back to playing and scoring goals

Would be interesting to see all those signings grouped into which agencies and agents they were signed through. Fans don't have the time or resources, but it's what a Board should be asking and reviewing from an exec director in charge of football. Bet she never bothered. A point of detail she couldn't be bothered with. Like ordering seats. Or drinks licenses.
