Depends how much you need to carry when out walking.
I've got a Dakine heli pack (12l) which is neat enough, fits a laptop, is fine for summer walks with less to carry. Good when skiing as it's quite slim. I
Millican bags are supposed to be decent.

There’s a distinct difference between rucksack and backpack for me. Rucksack is something that would be used by a discerning male whereas a backpack would be worn by a borderline weirdo/beast.

Got an Osprey for my travels with a wee backpack that you can zip on and off to the big duffel bag.
Was absolutely brilliant. Probably have it for the rest of my life with how good quality it is.
