'Are they laughing at me because I'm completely oblivious to how much of a clichéd performative Stewart Lee fan I'm being? No, can't be that - my joke must've just been too subtle for them'.

Apparently Sean Walsh burst out in tears after talking about his affair with that strictly come dancing lassie.

Apparently that’s basically all he talks about and his show is an absolute shambles Eek

I’ve never really got him, no idea who is humour is targeted at but he seemed to be really popular for a while.

Only a minute in but Rofl

https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_conti...x5aY7AZ4Ug

Fucking hilarious how some local people get about the festival.  I agree that the city is becoming way too overcrowded in August but it's still good.

Some of his points are good, but he's still a knob.

The clip of him giving cash to the homeless guy Monty Chuckle

Clearly some aspiring poet who thinks he's in trainspotting, who is utter shite and never made it.

I've been to the Tattoo once, when I was about 8, taken by my grandpa, and I went out on a date to a comedy thingy in the Grassmarket with that Huddersfield burd doctor i mentioned the other day (I met her in Sneaky Petes the night before Laugh ), in mid-nineties.  Otherwise never been to any other Edinburgh Festival/Fringe shite, and year after year I have no inkling to do so.

I do like a wander round the town every so often, enjoying the circus that it is, and the fireworks are Quite Good if they catch you out by surprise.

I don't drink in the Ferryboat, nor do I do my shopping at the corner shop on Niddrie Marishal Drive but I do tend to agree that the vast majority of the Edinburgh populace dinnae gie a fuck about the Edinburgh Festival/Fringe.

Problem with the festival is that it's about 5% good shows by genuinely talented people and 95% utter shite from attention seekers that desperately want to be famous.

Wouldn't go back to working in the centre of Edinburgh during it for all the tea in China. End up wanting to punch fuck out tourists holding the bus up by about day 3.

Nah it’s nowhere near as bad as 95% shite, also from working with a load of shite over the years they’re on the whole not doing it to be famous or make money.

Think that’s the standard opinion from a local that it’s all wee rich English students who love themselves but in reality you barely come across them. If you’re only going to the big English companies like underbelly or assembly then you’ll probably see a lot of shit stand up comedians who are just pining for live at the Apollo or something.

There’s a lot more to the festival than that though. The majority of the people genuinely believe in the art they are performing. Look how big the free fringe has become now as well, loads of good stuff there but people barely pay attention to it because they automatically write it off as shite when it’s usually just people who don’t want to pay the big companies extortionate fees.

I’m probably going to be taking a year away from it this year as can’t really be arsed. Going to see Rhod Gilbert with my old man but that’ll probably be it unless any free tickets pop up.

The Festival is great. A pain in the arse when it comes to the sheer numbers of tourists, but it’s the one month where Edinburgh is arguably the cultural capital of the world. I’ve seen so many great shows that I would never have bothered seeing if it hadn’t been so convenient.

That said, was driving up Dalkeith Road yesterday and saw a bunch of drama school types coming out of Pollock Halls dressed as giant ants, had a wee Lampoon to myself.

Aye i don't think it can grow any more without it expanding out the city.

There was chat of moving some of it to places like glasgow etc but then it ceases being the edinburgh festival Eek

I don't go to watch them. I've dealt with loads of them through working in town during the festival though.

The festival is great. You’d have to be proper dour not to at least enjoy something about it.
