They have developed year on year - but have had a lot of money thrown at the game, especially since the World Cup location was announced.

Like Scotland they have ‘developed’ talent which helps but this should be a pretty close game today. Usually you would back Scotland to beat them, but with home advantage the Japanese go into this as favourites.

Scotland are rightly favourites for the game, but the 8 point margin will be tight. Should be a cracker.

One thing I’ve never understood in rugby - when a player is tackled and they hold the ball for a team mate to take, why can an opposition player not just scoop it up rather than waiting for someone to take it and pass it off?

You're not allowed to hold on in a tackle - if the ref calls a tackle you need to release the player - you can challenge for the ball if you're able to support your own body weight.

Tackled players should release the ball in the tackle though or feed it back to their scrum half

Why do some of the Japanese players look like Yorkshire bricklayers? Laugh something doesn't quite add up there like.

Aye sorry what I meant is when the player is releasing the ball after being tackled, why can the opposition not challenge for that ball that’s just sitting there? They seem to just stand and let the team start an attack again.

I only really watch 6 nations so not got a great grasp of all the rules Laugh

These missed tackles will be our undoing today.

Japan a try up now. Honestly can’t see us winning this now.

Running rugby is so much better to watch than just punting the ball away every time you get it. Monty Oh Well

Pretty sure the final pass for the first try was forward. Not a single angle that even gave a sniff of it though.

Probably should have taken the draw to be honest Eek

All to do with placement of the ball, you’ll notice the tackled player puts it behind him. If the opposing players have to lean right over the top they aren’t supporting their weight and you aren’t allowed to come in from the side

Hekens  really frustrating watching teams like Japan play some exciting stuff and seeing Scotland do their usual play for territory constantly.
