I know we are Hearts, but i'm not sure that's how these things work.

Nae need to exaggerate, things are bad enough!

Sorry, I meant had season played out. 11 points from 45 is woeful no matter what way you cut it though. Truly abysmal

Fewer points in that 15 game sequence than any other club. Fewer points than any other club in the Cathro tenure. The malaise at this football club has been terrifying.

Stendel may have been right man at wrong time. He tried to implement a style this shower of shite were unable to implement. The only thing that squad were proficient in was losing

That’s how they should work though. We’re a big club and we’ve been treated like baby’s by Budge. Absolutely no sense of fear about us now. We need to get back to the mentality that we are Hearts and we’re better than you.

The irony of both us and Hamilton beating Rangers is that had they won those games, as expected, we probably wouldn't be siting here relegated. There is absolutely no danger had there only been 7pts between Celtic And Rangers with the latter having a game in hand and still to play each other twice that the league would have been called. They would have waited it out to complete in full or they would have called it null and void. The Rangers collapse over the last month of games dictated it was easier for the league to end.

I dunno about that. Would have said that before all of this but it just feels like Peter Lawell runs Scottish football. I thought it was unthinkable that they would have called a league that was still mathematically possible yet here we are. Rangers have lost that power and Celtic have increased theirs considerably.

I think you underestimate Rangers and their hordes a little bit but no denying Lawell has Scottish football by the nuts.

Lots of big questions need to be answered by Stendel
  • Why persist with El Hologram in nets for so long
  • Why play Boyce anywhere but centre forward, he’s the only player in the squad with any goal scoring pedigree
  • Why sign Avdijaj if it’s going to take so long for him to get up to speed in the Scottish game
  • Why play Damour at all?
  • Marcel Langer?
I will give him the benefit of the doubt in regards to he made Lewis Moore look like a capable SPL player, helped Clare to start fulfilling some of his potential and wasn’t afraid to ship out Berra when he wasn’t cutting the mustard.

As for comments that he couldn’t do any better, the Rangers and Hibs games showed what we were capable of but he couldn’t get it out of them in games where we needed more grit and fight. On the Hologram point I’m confident to say we’d have won the St Johnstone game and got something from the Killie game if he hadn’t been playing, everyone could see he needed shot of and Stendel even came out saying it wasn’t a contractual thing why he was playing every week so it’s all on him.

I actually think he’s a decent guy and if he’d come in under the Romanov regime he might have been a success but right now he’s shown he can’t get the best out of what we have so it’s for the best that he leaves

El Holo might’ve had a clause in his contract saying he must be played at least x amount of games. Man U are a massive club and they’ll want their ‘rising stars’ getting as much game time as possible.

If you’d read my post you’d have seen I covered that already, Stendel came out and said there was no contractual requirement to play him

Yep, he has Doncaster in his back pocket and absolutely runs things here. No doubt in my mind that they’d have awarded them the title if it was a far narrower margin.

Agree with all of that. Good point about if he’d been around in the Romanov era with that quality
Of player. Could have been exciting.

Stendel said he didn’t.

Persisting with El gato is one of the things I’d give him a lot of stick for. Bobby was only marginally better but feels like gato was getting a game because he was Man Utd.

Think this is a very fair post. I’m really torn on him because obviously it hasn’t been good enough, but I like him and want him to succeed, and there *have* been some signs that he can get us where we want to be given time to instil his philosophy. Hibs and both Rangers games were really, really good performances and if he was able to get that to any kind of consistent level, then we’d genuinely have a shot at winning things under him. But that doesn’t take away from how bad the results were overall, or the surrenders away from home, or the truly embarrassing defending that dogged the season.

I’ve said a good few times on here that I don’t think we will ever find out if he is a good manager, because the circumstances he inherited and was expected to work under were awful, but he similarly didn’t do himself any favours.

As a fan I’ve always wondered what I’d do if I scored the winner at Easter Road. Not sure if I’d go to the hibs fans and GIRU them or go to the hearts fans a join in Warnock
