It's more likely to be the sporting director who gets the head coach in so let's see who that is first.

As much as he might be many's favourite, it'd take a real change (though possibly unsurprising) in him to do so. He's been clear his current role would be his last and he's thoroughly enjoying his 'semi-retirement'. Add in his recent health issues, cleaning up Levein's mess would be a massive task.

And he's told me that directly when talking to him at Ainslie Park.

He’s on record a couple of times saying if Ann picked up the phone he’d find it hard to say no, especially because of the state we are in.

And he's also reaffirmed (semi) retirement after saying that. Jezza

We'll not know either way. Not sure if his health would be best considering the mess at Tynie. I'd be a bit uncomfortable in that regard tbh.

I'd say leave JJ out of this. It's not his mess to clean up and as others have said I'd worry for his health. I think we should be looking for someone younger who sees us as a long term project, maybe somebody who's done well with a club in the Football League.

Whoever it is they should be in before the manager though. You'd normally appoint a new manager in like May/June for an August start so I'd have no qualms about getting a sporting director in by July, letting him draw up a shortlist and getting the new manager around August if we're kicking off in October. Especially considering the calibre of manager we could afford may be dependent on the legal compo.

He doesn’t need this shit even if he would find it impossible to say no, so I’d like JJ to be given the Sir Alex role of sitting in hospitality stuffing his face, telling stories, making people feel great about themselves, and lifting the entire club with his presence. Club ambassador and give him his Pringle jumper and golf money. Like a higher class Locke Jim Kens

Still think timing was everything here but regardless the midweek pumping of the vermin at their hovel will ensure you are always welcome around Gorgie.

That St Mirren away performance will live long in the memory for all the wrong reasons. The moment the fans in the stands knew we were going down -hopefully the pandemic fallout will save us from relegation.

Thanks for your efforts, don't forget your goggles and rope.

Using the 'always welcome at Tynecastle' meme unironically Warnock

3 decent performances in 4 months isn't good enough. Absolutely dreadful in the games which should be the easier ones against bottom half trash.

Cheers for the smilies, I guess.

I think he inherited a terrible set of circumstances on the park - probably only Lockie took over at a worse time. I think these players are largely unmanageable and keeping us up would be a Herculean task. In saying that, he didn’t do enough to keep us up and made a few horrendous calls (persisting with Pereira, high line when our team can’t play it, Damour at the Paisley debacle etc) and I’m not overly bothered he won’t be coming back.

Hopefully we somehow avoid going down to the Championship. Oddly I’d have felt confident with him going into the semi v hibs May Bee

I’m not going to shed a tear because he’s gone but he’s got my sympathy, he was onto a loser from the start with McPhee and Levein hanging about like bad smells and the general atmosphere and malaise throughout the club.

The Hibs and Rangers games showed how we could have played more regularly if the players fancied turning up enough.

Let’s be frank, he’ll be hoping his successor at Barnsley can keep up their improved form or he’ll have been involved in a relegation at each of the three clubs he’s managed. Monty Oh Well
