It's odd to call his attitude and commitment into doubt when you look at all the comments, though. We are talking about a guy who gave up his salary for months on end, worked for free, and was ready and willing to stay, change his mind and commit to the club, aren't we?

Seems disingenuous to say: "his commitment was never there from the start. Forget that he says he would have talked about staying - that bit doesn't count."

Pretend the pandemic didn’t happen - Imagine signing for a team and then if you relegate them saying you will bail.

Weird man.

Seems fairly sensible when signing for a basketcase of a team in the scenario we were in. I can't imagine many agents letting anyone sign a contract with no get out clause in the situation we were in.

Wiggo

He literally says when he signed for Hearts he had decided he wouldn't be staying if we went down. If you don't see that as a lack of commitment then I don't know what to tell you. If Levein had said that you'd be doing your nut in. From the first day it all looked a bit off and Levein and Snake confirmed yesterday that his working relationship with Budge wasn't great. This is blatantly a guy who wasn't sure about this job.

Full credit to him for giving up his wages, top gesture. He wasn't working for free in reality though, the entire thing was shut down.

If you believe the stuff about him saying he wanted to stay after he's gone then that's up to you. Certainly wasn't the message is agent was giving out.

Why do you believe him when he says he decided he wouldn't stay and then not believe him when he says he would?

I don't see it as simply a lack of commitment and that was it. IMO Stendel and his agent looked at it and realised it was a big job where most people would struggle in with a difficult scenario. Then Stendel decided he'd be willing to stay and commit to the job.

I don't see why including some form of protection is massively controversial considering the state the club was/is in. Fuck working with an owner who actually just really wants the guy she sacked back in your job whilst he slithers around the training ground. I'd be making sure I had some form of get out clause in that scenario too or my agent wouldn't be my agent for much longer Laugh

I really don’t see the issue with a manager saying if I fail and we get relegated I’ll leave, how many managers are going to come into a club like Hearts in December and say “you know what if we get relegated I’ll hang about”. It’s accepting failure.

I don’t see it as a lack of commitment tbh.

I also don’t really care enough either way, he’s gone, he doesn’t have any hard feelings towards us, he sacrificed his wages to save the club money during all of this. Good luck to him.
