How do you folk take their whisky? I've never been into it. Just generally a shite taste. Anything I can do to make it enjoyable? Got a bottle in the house gathering dust.

What is it you don't like about it? What bottle is it?

It really depends on what exactly you don'tlike about the taste. A couple of drops of water will mellow out all the flavour and will make the alcohol less harsh. You could also make a whisky soda with it?

I remember having Laphroaig as my first real experience of whisky and absolutely hating it. Came back to it after trying a few different drams and then loving it - it takes a bit of getting used to.

Depends on the whisky. Water will mellow the flavour as Frank says and make it an easier drink - but literally a drop at a time until you get the taste you’re looking for. People pour water in and that ruins it. I usually have my whisky neat or with a drop or two of water max.

I used to go for a single cube of ice so if you’re trying to get into it, that’s an option as well.

It's possible that you just don't like whisky tbf, but for me even just adding in 1-2 drops of water really helps.

I didn't think I liked whisky until I spent a summer selling it, at which point I learned a bit about it, started tasting a few, and found that I really quickly developed a taste for it. I think that if you just sit and sip it it'll probably be disappointing, but if you roll it around the glass, have a wee smell of it first, then swirl it around your mouth for a few seconds before swallowing it (the guideline is usually one second for every year it's been matured), it really makes a big difference. You don't need to get wanky about it, but there's a reason why these things are recommended.

Usually drink whisky neat but it's just as good with a wee splash of water or a tiny bit of ice Piggy
