Absolutely bathed in tim now though  Monty LewLew

That's true. You don't play in a Rogers team without being semi-competent on the ball. A lot is being made of the 'sweeper keeper' thing but I'd rather have a keeper that will save it 4 out of 5 times. He'll be an improvement for 6 months.

Don't think it's a bad thing tbh - he'd bring in masses of experience for the rest of the keepers, and whilst maybe not a long term thing, if it improves our squad then that's good.

Plus, I'd imagine he'll come with JS to help the coaching.

We'd be daft to turn him down.

Feels a wee bit Eek with the age he's at, sticking with Pereira until the end of the season then bringing in someone new in the summer is probably the play.

Torn on this more because I don't know how much his ability has gone more than his timminess tbh. I'm not overly convinced sweeper keeper is Stendel's plan either, just think that's what you get with Pereira.

Of a mind to stick with what we have and try and sign a competent goalie long term in the summer.

On reflection I'd take him on a 6 month deal and let him try like fuck to earn a contract/place at Euro 2020 (as if we're getting there Monty Chuckle ).

I don't think we should be signing old boys up to long contracts anymore. 1 year rolling and then replace with a big German netz zärtlich Sound

Stendel plays a high defensive line which means we're more reliant on the goalkeeper anticipating danger and coming out to clear balls in behind. It's a natural consequence of the system.

Indeed. This is painfully obvious. Who else is going to cover the 40-50 yard gap between defensive line and the goal?  Monty Ha

Could just sack them both and get someone better in on loan. Do we have to choose between a guy who can't save shots and a guy who's in terminal decline?  I imagine das Vaterland will be teeming with able young tenders warming benches. Get some dead-eyed lad in from Mainz or wherever.

I mind O’Connor saying he could never play for Hearts as he hated us. Thicker than the Tower of London’s walls but refreshingly honest.

In fairness to Gordon there’s a huge difference between O’Connor playing to the Hibs crowd and saying he’d never sign for us, his boyhood rivals who play at a largely similar level and offer similar wages. Not really compatible with Gordon being offered excellent money, the opportunity to win trophies and play in the Champions League.

That said, he’s not what we need right now.

I'm aware of this but Pereira only really came out his box once and that was because he made a cunt of a few touches. Stendel seems to be more reliant on defenders pace in getting back than the goalie rushing out, at least at the moment.

Gordon's career was fucked and was about to retire/play for Cowdenbeath. The fact he was able to recover to a level which wasn't quite EPL but at least the top team in Scotland is testament to his character.

I'm so old. I remember when he left Hearts, he said he would return here before he would retire. He's being true to his word in that sense. Lennon would still be extremely keen to have him as back up on 20k a week to ensure 9 and 10 in a row.

O'Connor would play for Tynecastle Hearts if they offered him a can of irn bru and a half gram baggy.
