You just seemed to dismiss how big Christmas is for everyone because you enjoy getting pissed and you probs won’t be able to do that.  For the vast majority of people the best bit about Xmas is spending time with their families.

Sure maybe it is a bit dangerous, but then it must be dangerous for me to be around randoms at my work all day and they seem happy for me to do that.  If you think the gvt are going to allow people to just have a Christmas as normal you’re aff your head, you’re going to be able to see 1 other household max no doubt if anything.

Also ripping people for missing their families Warnock  Of course I’m missing seeing my family  Monty Ha

Morph you're just latching on to throwaway comments and making them a thing Laugh For clarity - seeing family is the best bit for me and I'm not ripping anyone for missing families, it's shite.

If you think folk are going to stick to 1 household then you are off your head as well. This is going to be the classic give an inch take a mile scenario.

My view is I want to return to reality (or at least closer to it) as soon as possible so the prospect of going into a more severe tier or lockdown or whatever shite they call it for the sake of one day, no matter how special, is bad. I also thing the longer term consequences of forgetting about the virus for a few days is people reduce their compliance for other situations but maybe I'm wrong on that.

Like I said, I do sympathise - it's not fair. But infectious viruses don't look at situations and think 'well he's doing x so we should really let him do y, it's unfair otherwise'. Although I do agree that plenty of people have been sent back to work when, if we were really taking this situation seriously, they shouldn't have been.

I literally said I’m taking a long holiday at Xmas so I can isolate leading up to the 25th.

If the rules allowed to see 1 other household at Xmas then the vast majority would comply with that.  Obviously not everyone but if people think it’s ok to have a huge family gathering then they were doing their own thing regardless of what the gvt are going to say anyway.

Appreciate you’re desp to get back to reality maybe don’t go making trips out of Edinburgh looking for a pub though as can’t imagine that is helping the overall situation Titter

Having a drink with a meal 10 minutes from where I can't will not make a difference to anything whatsoever. In fact it will be of benefit to the restaurant. I hope this helps.  Sound

Be funny if I got lifted for going to Musselburgh mind you.

If people cant miss out on a 'normal' Christmas, for one year, then they need a good look at themselves.

I'm on my own, essentially totally isolated, as I cant go anywhere to see friends or family (and I'm not allowed on campus to break the monotony), and folk want to loosen restrictions for a couple of days to then have them even more restrictive after it. Well get fucked.

They’ve barely been policing the regulations so far so there’d be no chance with the numbers who will be visiting family on Xmas.

Dont want either my folks or the in laws to be exposed to risk, so I wouldnt be visiting them in house anyway, might be a wee "in garden" visit but tbh I think we might just try to hunker down in the house and cook a pinigol meal. Don't really fancy driving around between glasgow>stirling>dunfy>glasgow to sit in the garden for a few hours.*

Find it crazy that a lot of older people are taking risks, but then maybe the hurt from missing family is too much.

It is doses per capita. So I guess the figures are poor for China because there's so many people there? Or because their government is developing its own.

Russia probs happy with its own vaccine that Putin has been plowing into his daughter Monty Chuckle

Ah I see. Would be cool if we could choose which vaccine we want on a electronic screen like mcdonalds has these days.

That's true. But we've got a decent spread which is what you want in this situation in case a few of them dont work etc.
